The Lisa Macuja School of Ballet Manila opens in Fisher Mall, Quezon City

Soft pink tutus, the perfect ballerina bun, and pretty satin pointe shoes, it's enough to bring out the girly girl in anyone. If you're like me then you've probably dabbled in ballet way back in grade school or high school. While some have progressed and have become actual Prima Ballerinas (like my cousin Noreen Ostrea who still performs in New York), the lot of us still continue to dream about our ballerina days.

So, imagine our delight when we were told that a new Ballet Manila branch was opening in Fisher Mall, Quezon City.

Now retired from performing full time, the country's premier Prima Ballerina Ms. Lisa Macuja-Elizalde now acts as CEO and Artistic Director of all Ballet Manila branches. Her main goal is to bring ballet and arts closer to the people. After all, the only way you can develop world class dancers is to hone them in the best schools.

I was fortunate to have been invited to the soft launch, perfect timing as I had just finished my Barre3 2-month package. What a great way to meet Ms. Lisa and also try ballet and see if I can do this continuously as a workout.

We had a refresher course on the proper stance and posture for Classical Ballet. The key and most important is finding your center, in order to do this you need to be in a pulled-up position: turnout your feet, square your hips, lift your abdominal muscles upward and back towards your spine.

If you're in the Quezon City area and would like to enroll yourself or your kids in Ballet, visit their new branch in Fisher Mall. Check out the trial classes from August 7-9, 2016:
