Doggie-Approved: Merry Hempsters Organic Dog Salve Topical Healing Balm

Pet lovers will agree that we treat our little ones like babies. I carry Epsilon up the stairs, kiss him a million times per day, and even talk to him and ask about his day when I get home from work (he doesn't verbally answer of course, but he does look at me intently and licks my face).

Komiki (my Shih Tzu) on the other hand, is pretty spritely for a breed that is supposedly a lap dog. She chases delivery guys, bullies the other much larger dogs at home, checks the perimeter every once in a while (I have seen her walking around the second floor of the house just checking if everything is in order before going to sleep), and is (as expected) always up to no good. Their personalities are polar opposites but I love them to bits.

Which is why whenever brands send me products for us to try, I get really giddy. Beauty products are always expected since my blog mostly deals with beauty and lifestyle, but when I receive pet products then I really, really get over the moon. Like this Organic Dog Salve Topical Healing Balm from Merry Hempsters which was sent over by the lovely Rebecca of Cutieverse last year. She thoughtfully gave me a full-sized tube to try, and I immediately remembered it when Epsilon has this little "emergency" a few months back.

Formulated using only USDA certified organic ingredients, Merry Hempsters Organic Dog Salve is not only safe and effective, but also supports environmentally friendly organic growing practices. The easy roll on applicator will keep your hands clean. Organic Dog Salve has nourishing Hemp Seed Oil that contains essential nutrients for healthy skin. Organic Dog Salve is perfect for helping soothe your furry friend's hot spots, cuts, insect bites, abrasions, and other minor skin irritations.

Have a Fuzz-Free Summer with Veet Hair Removal Products

A few days ago I posted on my personal Facebook account that I can't imagine anyone wearing jeans in this weather -- it simply is just too hot in Manila nowadays! Being a purveyor of dresses, I relish in the fact that I can wear skirts, shorts, and anything that's not too constricting anytime.

While my legs are far from perfect, you can make sure that they're smooth and fuzz-free. For most of us who are too busy to head to the waxing salon for a quick wax, Veet offers products that we can use in the comfort of our own home.

First Impressions: Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cleanser & Soothing Lotion for Sensitive Skin

I've noticed that every time I undergo too much sun exposure even with adequate sun protection, the skin on my forehead and around my nose itches. Small bumps appear usually after a few days, I'd have my regular facial but they would still persist. And since my beach trips/pool sessions were just a couple of weeks apart, the bumps never really went away. I suspect I may have perioral dermatitis (I do get dermatitis occasionally when I'm testing new makeup or skin care and I'm not hiyang), so now I had to taper my skin care regimen and use only ultra mild products without any SLS, parabens, paraffin, etc.

So, I broke open my Weleda Almond Soothing Facial Cleanser & Soothing Lotion for Sensitive Skin which was lovingly sent to me by good friend Ivvah from the UK. Famously known as the skin care brand Victoria Beckham swears by, German brand Weleda was born in 1921 and offers holistic natural (and organic) cosmetics and pharmaceutical products dedicated towards the support and restoration of human health.

Crazy shopping at the #SMLadiesNight Flash Sale

Everyone loves a good bargain, and SM Store knows this so well. You can always count on SM for their chic corporate clothes or for trendy fashionable options. I love SM (most especially) GTW because they carry small sizes as I am teeny-tiny in person. SM is also always on point with their offerings at affordable prices.

Last Wednesday I was invited to shop at their first ever SM Ladies Night flash sale in SM Makati. This sale gives everyone the chance to score everything from SM Woman and GTW (plus select participating brands) at 50% off! The catch is, the flash sale will run from 6pm-9pm only in this specific branch -- you can just imagine the chaos!

Subic, Baby!

Just wanted to let you all know that I just got back from the AXA Philippines QSSR Convention in Subic. Of course, I am so thrilled to be recognized plus I haven't been so Subic in months so I don't even know how it looks like now.

Meet Nico, my hyper "bestie", bus mate, partner-in-crime for the last 2 days. He's very theatrical, but unfortunately he doesn't love the beach as much as I do :(

Juice Beauty SPF 30 Sport Moisturizer

Common sense will tell you to apply sunscreen day in and day out, most especially in this heat as it is officially summer in the Philippines. I know a whole lot of people who pass on sunscreen because it's simply too sticky or too cumbersome. But let me tell you something, if you regularly apply sunscreen early on in life, there'll be less wrinkles, fine lines, and skin pigmentations to contend with in the future. Your skin will thank you for it, so make sure to scout for your HG sunscreen now!

Anyway, as a sunscreen fiend myself, I've collected quite a lot of brands and I hope to be able to feature/review them here one by one, and to help you on your search for "the one."

Alright, let's start with Juice Beauty SPF 30 Sport Moisturizer which was introduced to me at last year's meet with greet with Juice Beauty International Sales Manager, Vernetra Young. It took a while for me to review it as I'm swimming in products, but finally here's my verdict.

Water-resistant, chemical-free and broad spectrum protection for the ultimate sun and sport fun. Made especially for an active outdoor lifestyle, SPF 30 Sport Sunscreen blends rich organic jojoba and soothing aloe with antioxidants and vitamins for the ultimate daily protection.
Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide 20%
Inactive Ingredients: Organic juices of aloe barbadensis (organic aloe juice)*, pyrus malus (organic apple juice)*, vitis vinifera (organic white grape juice)*, cocos nucifera (organic coconut oil)*, caprylic/capric triglycerides, sorbitan stearate, ricinus communis (castor seed oil), hydrogenated methyl abietate, polyglyceryl-10 laurate, magnesium sulfate, helianthus annuus (organic sunflower seed oil)*, simmondsia chinensis (organic jojoba seed oil)*, tocopherol (Vitamin E), magnesium ascorbyl phosphate (Vitamin C), citrus limonum (lemon extract), iron oxides, phenethyl alcohol, ethylhexylglycerin, citrus reticulata (mandarin) & citrus aurantium (petitgrain) pure essential oils

Life Lately: Somewhat distracted

I am involved in so many [recreational] things that it has shaken my priorities a bit. My work used to take center stage and it was the only thing I thought about day in day out, but now, it has somewhat taken a backseat. To be fair, summer is usually the time of the year I get all uneasy and restless, perhaps because we have our first family trip around March or April and I have been hardwired to anticipate flying off somewhere or going on a vacation.

But, I am starting to think that the distraction is probably coming from the fact that my beach trips started very early this year (January!), and my job (though I love it so much) is not exactly helpful. Because I manage my own time, I can jet off to anywhere or head to the beach on a moment's notice. In fact, I have an overnight bag that's packed with beach essentials (complete with extra bikinis) that I can just grab anytime I have that spur-of-the-moment beach trip. Yes, much to my friends' dismay, I have become that type of person: kaladkarin, they'd like to call it. Just tell me you're heading to the beach and I'd clear out my schedule. To be fair, I always tell them it would highly depend on the person/people asking me out, of course. But my mantra now is, why not live a little, you know?

How to Wear Marsala by Acie Fores

A few weeks ago, I had the lovely opportunity to sit down with MUA Acie Fores and try out the Marsala trend. I always like being made up and see it as an adventure. You put your trust on a makeup artist and you don't really know what the outcome is going to be (I usually give them free rein to do whatever). But for what it's worth, the whole "transformation" is so much fun, plus it's nice to be able to chat with the person and know her on a more intimate level. You have no idea how much gossip happens BTS, hehe.

Anyway, I've known Acie since last year when we both tried out SkinLux along with Alex and Martine. Sadly I was not able to adequately blog about the facial but I have recommended some people and they've become staunch converts. So, head on over to SkinLux if you've been battling acne, melasma, and other skin conditions, or simply want the best for your skin.

Now, have you embraced the Marsala trend? Here are snippets from Acie's tutorials, click the link to read the full posts:

This is me sans makeup -- eek!

Recent Faves: Beach-bound

Since my preferences change over time, I decided that I'll post my faves every few months or so just to keep you all updated. "Recent Faves" would include new discoveries, or products that I've switched up depending on my current skin care needs and complexion issues. It may also include some favorites that are non-beauty related just for fun.

Okay, by now you probably all know that I've been bitten by the surfing bug. I've always been a beach bum growing up but now I'm taking it rather seriously with all my upcoming beach trips. So because of this, I had to alter my skin care routine a bit. I never realized up until I've built my base tan (which took a couple of weeks, FYI), that keeping a tan is harder than expected. People who are rather light-skinned will agree that our color goes back sooner than most, and well, it's rather frustrating.

The rule of thumb is, in order to keep or maintain a tan you have to keep skin moisturized at all times. The key is to prevent skin from exfoliating otherwise you lose your color (and this rings true for self-tanners as well).

My solution? Use only the gentlest products possible in order to prolong the life of my tan. Here's my first installment of "Recent Faves," hope you like them!

Pantene 3-Minute Miracle
Okay, I just had to squeeze this in because this is by far the most moisturizing and hair softening conditioner EVER. When I go to LU, I usually skip shampooing after each swim because it might dry out my hair. I just shower and apply this conditioner and my hair is"resuscitated", plus it smells deliciously sweet, too.
