Biore Aqua UV Rich Watery Essence SPF 50 PA++++

Biore makes it easy to stick to the habit of applying sunscreen every day with their water-based sunscreen product called Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence (whew, what a mouthful). I had my doubts at first because my benchmark has always been the sunscreen gel I buy at the Dermatologist's office -- clear and lightweight, with no trace of the heaviness that silicons bring. And usually when commercial brands say "gel", there's still a cream part of it thus making me feel coated.

Thankfully, Biore's version (though not an exact dupe of my Derma's creation) is close enough. Kao Biore and I have gone a long way as I first discovered the brand in grade school and have been a staunch user of their facial scrub. I was sad when they left and now I'm wondering why it took so long for them to stage a comeback.

Contains unique Aqua Micro Capsules with UV block ingredient to provide superior SPF 50+/PA++++ protection while keeping skin cool and refreshed. It is enriched with Hyaluronic Acid & Citrus essence to hydrate and soften skin. Its water-based texture spreads easily and get absorbed easily without a white cast. Suitable to be used on face.

New pH Care Naturals Intimate Wash Papaya & Guava

Feminine hygiene is something we shouldn't take lightly, we should always check the labels if the products we use are gentle for every day use. I don't think it's necessary to use those medicated ones on a daily basis, unless it's prescribed by a doctor or Aunt Flow is visiting and you need extra protection.

One of the brands I remember using early on was pH care, and for a while I "hoarded" their cooling variant. Now, pH Care hops on the "all-natural" bandwagon and released two new feminine washes that are worth trying out. Not to be confused with all-natural products, these have natural additives namely papaya and guava extracts.

The brand kindly sent me samples to try, check them out below:

A Blissful Spa-rty with Zoya

Towards the end of the month is when work gets either a little too hectic (trying to beat deadlines or sales quotas before cut-off) or too chill (when I've reached my quota and am just planning for the coming month). This month was somewhere in the middle -- I've reached my personal quota early on but some didn't pan out as expected so I was sort of in a rush to make up for them.

Suffice to say, taking time off to have something as simple as a manicure and pedicure was not something I'd like to squeeze into my schedule. But lo and behold, the universe conspired and gave me an opportunity to get pampered -- and it was located near the office as well!

It was an invite from Martine of Make It Blissful and I was to be Alex's plus one. I've tried Zoya nail polishes before and wasn't too impressed with the colors, most salons only stock a couple of shimmery shades so I usually go for Orly or OPI. I'm curious to discover what other shades and formulations Zoya has to offer.

Amazingly lightweight: Burt's Bees Radiance Night Cream with Royal Jelly

Having had combination-sensitive (reactive) skin all my life, I've shunned cream-based products especially during night-time. I've preferred water-based and gel-based moisturizers (with the exclusion of facial oils once in a while) in order to prevent the aggravation of my overactive oil glands.

But when I visited a new dermatologist last week, she mentioned that my skin looks dry because of overexposure to the sun. She recommended drinking more water (of which I am guilty of not doing) plus the inclusion of a night cream in my daily skin care regimen. I am 30+ after all. Normally I would dismiss things like this because I am familiar with what's best for my skin and I don't want to change my routine, but I love this new dermatologist because she supports by beach trips and surfing escapades -- she was the one responsible for lasering off the mole on my stomach that was once burnt after my La Union trip

So when I got home, I rummaged through my press gifts and decided to try the Burt's Bees Radiance Night Cream with Royal Jelly. I didn't have high hopes at first. After all, night creams are known to be beneficial to skin but are deemed too rich, too warm, too tacky for oily skin. But I've been proven wrong by Burt's Bees.

Discover our best natural nighttime moisturizer for dull skin needing a youthful glow. Infused with Royal Jelly, one of nature’s most powerful nutrients, this night cream helps enhance the skin’s natural radiance and helps minimize the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Formulated with Bee Pollen and Shea Butter, your skin will look and feel more moisturized and smoother for naturally radiant, younger-looking skin.

Revlite Laser Treatment at Skinhouse Update (2nd and 3rd session)

Off the bat, let me tell you that I've been looking forward to my Revlite sessions monthly. Though ideally this treatment has to be done every 2 weeks, I decided to schedule it once a monthly to make way for my regular Baler trips. The rule is, skin must be able to rest for 2 weeks in between Revlite and beach sessions.

So off I went to Skinhouse for my 3rd session today. Regine, as per usual, was my assigned therapist.

New Jergens Hydrating Coconut Lotion: A tropical vacation in a bottle

The Jergens we've all grown to love just released another variant called the Hydrating Coconut Lotion, and let me tell ya -- it truly smells like a tropical vacation!

Infused with coconut oil and coconut water that help make skin soft and supple, the formula is lightweight, non-sticky, and settles into skin nicely. Plus, the scent really reminds me of this popular tanning lotion sunscreen. Mmmm...

New to try: Rose-C Botanical Glow-Boosting Beauty Bundle from The Happy Organics

If you feel like your skin is ashy, drab, and needs a little pick-me-upper, then it may be time to exfoliate and brighten! In small quantities though, I do approve of brightening products in order to bring back that luminous glow. Hydroquinone and bleaching is totally off limits and not healthy in any way, so let's explore a more natural route.

Last year, local brand The Happy Organics sent me their natural cold-pressed soaps: the Double Detox Bar and Pink Himalayan Salts Goat's Milk Bar. Just this week they released their newest addition, the Rose-C Botanical Glow-Boosting Beauty Bundle, a skin care set meant to lighten skintone naturally while nourishing it with botanicals. Let's go through each one.

Rose-C Botanical Glow-Boosting Spritz Toner (Php275/50ml or Php 495/100ml)

Freshen up anytime of the day with this natural toner/facial mist that smells of freshly picked oranges. Does not feel sticky on skin and can be used under and over makeup.Contains rosewater to moisturize skin, antioxidants such as Green Tea and Vitamin C to boost skin's health, while Niacinamide Vitamin B3 lightens skintone. Spray is not as fine as Caudalie so make sure to spray far away from your face when applying this over makeup.

Finding My True Match with L'Oreal Paris

Makeup companies are starting to get the drift: natural-looking, super blendable makeup is the way to go. Gone are the days when your face was 2 shades lighter than your neck and the rest of your body, or you'd show up to an event with cakey, uneven makeup. Today there is no excuse not to find the perfect shade, especially now that L'Oreal has released 15 stay-true shades of foundation, powder, concealer that all work together to complement the Filipina skintone and undertone.

Always ahead of the trends with revolutionary skin care and now makeup, I was invited by the L'Oreal team to experience their newest and reformulated True Match makeup line. Veering away from the usual show-and-tell press events, they showcased their new products through an interesting "contest" and discovery of sorts.

We were to go around the venue with professional artists helping us pinpoint our true match shades. Everyone was very helpful and made the choosing less stressful. Believe me, when I'm at the makeup counter and the sales ladies are pushy or simply hover too much, it can get really annoying.

First stop is the new L'Orea'l Blur Cream (Php400), a silicon primer that preps skin for makeup application. It features concentrated light reflectors that instantly blur away pores and fine lines for smoother, more even-looking skin -- the perfect base for foundation.

Sleek MakeUP Blush in Rose Gold

I hardly wear blushes nowadays, my makeup life has become so simple and basic (channeling the island life) that blushes and mascaras are considered luxuries. Still, my sights are set out in search of the perfect pinky rose-slash-coral blush. When Luxola got in touch with me and offered to send 2 blushes my way for review, I was more than willing to test them out.

First up is the blush from Sleek MakeUp. I've seen this brand around but was only able to try the eyebrow pencil last month and found it too waxy, I gave it away. So, Sleek has got to redeem itself this time.

Take your pick from a wide range of natural shades from Sleek Blush. No matter what your skin tone is or the look you are going for, we got you covered. If you desire beautiful, summer-ready cheeks, this blush is ideal for you. It also ensures a natural, vivid finish even if you are looking to go subtle. Grab your choice of pigmented, quality shades with Sleek MakeUP.
