A Surprise from Canary Cosmetics

Earlier today, one of my godchildren (who lives with us at home) handed me a cone-shaped thing and suspiciously I asked, "What's that?" Christian replied, "Someone just sent it over." I got more suspicious and asked who. He said, "A girl dropped it off."

Owkay. I reluctantly accepted this "gift" and proceeded to take a peek.

But of course before fully opening it, my beauty blogger instincts kicked in and I decided to take some photos. I placed it on the floor and Komiki started sniffing it and prying it open.

Beyond Beauty Virgin Coconut Oil Body Scrub

I remember my mom being such a fan of Cory Quirino's World of Wellness Melawhite soap. She'd always ask me to pass by the World of Wellness store in SM North Edsa. The soap supposedly helps exfoliate and lighten skin, plus get rid of sun spots and other blemishes.

I haven't really tried anything from WOW, incidentally I was sent a few products from Cory Quirino's VCO line. I'm not a fan of anything coconut-scented but it's a scent that I can tolerate in small quantities.

Side story: Remember this minion I posted on my Instagram? It was hidden in a bouquet of flowers that was sent our way. You pull a string (literally) and this little minion popped out. Pretty cute and very inventive! Trumped all the flowers we've received over the past years ;)

Unboxing: Special Edition Belo Glamourbox

We're on a roll here, folks! We at Glamourbox are presenting another Special Edition box, this time with Belo. Admittedly, I always see Belo products in Watsons but I've never really gone around to trying any of their products. So you could say I was excited when Belo decided to partner with us, what's more, I finally get the opportunity to try their bestsellers.

So without further ado, here's a quick unboxing of the Special Edition Belo Glamourbox:

As February is nearing its end (how fast time flies, right?) we're all stoked about summer, and so the Belo Glamourbox focuses on preparing us for our summer escapades whether it's staying in the big bad city or sprawled on the beach. Or in my case (since I'm not a huge beach person), perhaps getting some R&R in another country, tee-hee.

My Ash Brown Hair + Freehand Highlights from JuRo Salon Exclusif

I've been a fan of JuRo Salon for 2 years, ever since I first encountered them during my ARC days. Now only Jude cuts my hair and Rose does the coloring. I even paid them a visit when I was dire need of a touch-up during my cousin's wedding last October 2013 (PS: I paid for their services).

Last December, Rose surprised me with a very lovely and thoughtful offer: they would be cutting and coloring my hair for free. "Think of it as our Christmas gift to you," quipped Rose. Oh my, I was so happy and thankful! I wasn't able to get a cut and color right away as we flew to Korea, so I rescheduled my appointment to January a few days before they left for the US.

This is how my hair looked like when I arrived at the salon, I actually did like how Rose colored my hair and strategically placed some highlights. But as you can see from the photo I have about 3 inches of regrowth, it still looks pretty decent though.

Rose Hip Oil: A lazy girl's beauty serum

Confession: I've been a lazy beauty blogger as of late. No, no, it's not about being lazy about posting on my blog because I do try to write more often, but work has been rather consuming. What I meant was, I'm too lazy now to fuss about skin care. I still do the whole shebang of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, but I've cut my routine in half by using Rose Hip Oil.

I know I've sworn off oils when I broke out using Emu Oil and Argan Oil on the face (the latter does wonders to my hair, FYI), but everything changed when I came across the Kosmea Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil. While exploring the counters at the Glamourbox office last November, I came upon this small tester bottle of Rose Hip Oil that nobody wanted to use. I got curious, took it home, and never returned it! Haha, my boss (Hi Lia!) knows that I have grown to love it and there is no chance of me ever giving it back :P

Korea Travelogue Day 2: Gangnam Underground Shopping Mall

Before heading back to our hotel after a long and very cold day (read about our trip to Nami Island and Petite France), we decided to do a little shopping in Gangnam Station. We've been on the train twice already, I do enjoy exploring commuting via train because it gives me a chance to observe the locals and the technology -- didn't do this in India though because we were gravely warned against commuting there since it wasn't safe for tourists, especially travelling via train.

Walking along Gangnam Street you'd only see a handful of people because it's in the underground Gangnam Shopping mall where the real action is. It's a flurry of activity down below and densely packed with shops, cafes, restaurants, people rushing to get to wherever, the works. Plus it's warmer, which is why I opt to pass through underground train stations than take the shorter route on street level.

Here are a few snapshots:

The "Puppy Uglies" Stage

Epsilon is now 4 months old! He is 1.5 lbs, and he has been shedding his hair -- a lot of it, actually. A few weeks ago I was so scared because I noticed his thinning hair and some bald spots. I checked online and as it turns out, Epsilon has entered the so-called "puppy uglies" stage.

The "puppy uglies" stage happens when a long-haired pup is about 4 months old. The puppy starts to shed its puppy hair to make way for its gorgeous adult coat. The phase ends when the puppy is about 12-14 months old. I've never had a long-haired dog in my life so this is a huge first for me. I was greatly concerned initially, thinking I got a low-quality Chihuahua or Epsilon has contracted some sort of skin disease. Thankfully, this is a phase that all long-haired dogs go through.

So my very cuddly and fuzzy Epsilon that weighed .3 lbs....

...has now turned into a 1.5lb monster. Kidding! There are obvious changes like his snout is more pronounced, he's taller and longer, and his legs are leaner.

Lolita Lempicka L'Eau Jolie

Nothing has fascinated me more than the cult-classic Lolita Lempicka fragrances. I've always adored the candy apple-shaped flacon gorgeously embraced by gold vines, while the atomizer is cleverly camouflaged as a protruding apple stem. Created by French fashion designer and fragrance creator, Lolita Lempicka, her namesake perfumes are part fairy tale-inspired and part fantasy (ala Alice in Wonderland) with its quirky bottle design. They are also so elusive that I've only seen them a few times abroad.

While on vacation last December, I was thisclose to purchasing one in Korea but I'm really glad I waited as Prestige Brands has now officially brought Lolita Lempicka to the Philippines. I was very lucky to receive their newest fragrance, Lolita Lempicka L'Eau Jolie which is an exquisite fruity floral EDT that is described as a "peach blossom-blackcurrant sorbet."

The Pixi Beauty Launch

For months now, I've raved about Pixi Beauty which I first encountered through my Green Beauty Glamourbox. I was a new addition to the team then, and since my focus is solely on skin-friendly makeup, Pixi was one of the brands I instantly favored.

I got the limited edition Tinted Brilliance Balm in Magic Tink Tint, a clear balm that turns a delicate pink when applied to lips. After that, I collected 3 more Tinted Brilliance Balms which I rotate and use regularly. Up until last week, Pixi has been secretly invading every woman's kikay kit via Glamourbox. The brand was finally launched in Manila in Simply Thai, Greenbelt.

Pixi Beauty is the creation of Swedish makeup artist and busy mom of 2, Petra Strand. Her goal is to be able to create makeup that is easy to apply, gentle on even the most sensitive skin, and can give you that "makeup to wakeup" look in just 5 minutes. I agree with that -- whether you're a Mom or a career woman, we all need double duty makeup that gets us ready in half the time! Am I right, ladies?

Before I go on blabbing about my love for Pixi, let me share with you some event photos:

Travelling with ANMA Lifestyle

Last week, I spent 4 days in our hometown (Cabadbaran City) for the Dagkot Festival. And even though I barely had enough sleep given that my flight was very early in the morning and I am not a morning person (haha), I still enjoyed spending time with my Dad, cousins, and my Mama (Grandma).

We all know that travelling can be stressful. Our latest visit to India was proof of that. As we usually fly using non-revenue tickets courtesy of my sister from an airline company, there is always a fear of getting bumped off. I mean, it rarely happens but it almost happened to us in India. India is beautiful, but if I were to get stuck in a country for 48 hours, I know you will agree with me that I would rather get stuck in Bangkok or Hong Kong. Hay. We were scared out of our wits.

Anyway, one way to make travelling less stressful is to be organized from your clothes to your legal documents. And that's where ANMA Lifestyle comes in. ANMA offers pieces that makes travelling even more stylish, fun, and best of all, organized.

I had a meeting with Anna Marasigan, the owner and creative head behind the brand, a true wanderlust herself. She was kind enough to send me their bestseller, the ANMA Travel Wallet, which is made of high quality faux leather material in a very perky orange color.

Look at that beauty! It has 4 compartments thoughtfully labelled for easier access, a zippered pocket for loose change or luggage keys, outer pocket for boarding pass, and a pen holder on the inside.

Ellana Baby Buki Brush

Just a quick blog post on my favorite mineral makeup brush -- the cutey patootie Ellana Baby Buki brush. As mentioned in my previous blog post, I love it so much that I decided to purchase another one as backup. I'm a chronic cleaner and I clean my brush with soap and water every week, so I got very concerned about damaging it and figured I needed an alternative brush to use while it's drying.

Anyway, at the recent Ellana Beauty Advocate event I purchased another Baby Buki at a 25% discount. Original price is at Php 330 and I got it on that day for only Php 247.50. Score!

old vs new Baby Buki
FYI, my old Baby Buki was purchased way back in 2006 and was only Php 300, so a Php 30 price increase is not bad. Off the bat, I noticed that although both are made of soft, high quality nylon hair, the old version seems to have denser and coarser bristles which helps it pick up mineral makeup better. The bristles of the new version are smoother, fans out more and are longer. Has anyone else noticed these important changes in the Baby Bukis?
