Currently trying: Lush Colour Supplement in Light Pink

I was killing time in Shangri-la mall one day and absentmindedly ventured into Lush. I rarely step into this store because the scents are always overwhelming. Anyway, I remembered that a couple of years ago Lush introduced cosmetics which didn't really fly and so were eventually discontinued.

I spotted these relatively new Colour Supplements which as positioned as foundations, tinted moisturizer, and makeup base. Rather confusing, ain't it? Anyway, I swatched them on my hand and they seem to give adequate coverage so I got two jars (they were on BOGO).

Light Pink was the shade that matched my skin the most. As this is a cream based product, I'm still testing it with my other makeup/skin care products and see which combo works best. Will update you in a few weeks with a more in depth review.

Have you tried Lush Colour Supplements?

Banish bacne and bumps with ID Buff-Buff Apricot Salicylic Acid Clarifying Soap

Living in a tropical country means perspiration, perspiration, and perspiration. And for some ladies with skin sensitivities, too much trapped sweat leads to bacne and skin bumps. Genetics aside, wearing skintight tops or nylon camis under sheer clothing is one of the culprits. Luckily, I've always managed to keep mine under control with VMV's ID Buff-Buff Apricot Salicylic Acid Clarifying Soap

An invigorating, stimulating cleanser for body skin. Contains salicylic acid to sustain the Id System's anti-acne, anti-inflammatory, exfoliating process, plus Apricot Kernels to buff, massage and stimulate the skin, while sloughing off dull, old skin cells to keep skin fresh, soft, smooth, and clear. Helps clear up pimples, chicken skin and other skin bumps from all over body skin.

Review: Good 'Ole Rosemary & Almond Oil Salt Scrub by Jarful of Goodness

What do you use to exfoliate your skin? Admittedly, I've always relied on commercial scrubs for exfoliation, just because they were readily available and whenever I'd go grocery shopping I'd just chuck it in my cart.

I came upon Jarful of Goodness while going through my Instagram feed (I am amazed with all the brands I find online!) and they thoughtfully sent two jars for me to try.

To give you a quick background, Jarful of Goodness is created by mom-preneur, freelance writer, and corporate blogger, Lanie. She takes scrubbing very seriously and thus came up with an all-natural homemade alternative line of scrubbies geared towards not only exfoliating, but healing, and alleviating skin problems. Since every jar is made by hand and no preservatives are used, it is advised to use it all up in two months.

My first review is on the Good 'Ole Rosemary & Almond Oil Salt Scrub:

This classic salt scrub has all the goodness and love of rosemary essential oil, almond oil and mineral salt. This awesome salt scrub is mild on skin and can be used on all skin types.

Beyond natural with Juice Beauty

Everyone seems to be on the fitness and health wheel nowadays, as evidenced by a flood of posts on my Instagram and Facebook feed. I do appreciate the fitness videos (even 15-second ones) because it helps me kick start my own fitness regimen, too. Aside from my usual daily exercise (which involves brisk walking for 10-15 minutes -- does this count?), I also try to transition into eating more healthy options (hello, salads from Healthy Monsters). Though I'm not a purist, it also helps to be aware of the stuff you put ON your skin, hence my voracious reading of ingredients lists.

One such brand that has been around in the Philippines for years yet I haven't gone around to personally trying (until only recently, that is) is Juice Beauty. Oh I'm sure you're thinking, wow another natural brand. But I'll cut right to the chase -- what makes Juice Beauty different is it is made up of only certified organic (very important!) and they only use 100% undiluted antioxidant rich juice base in all of their products. Their standpoint is, why use water as your base (which is what typical beauty companies do) and dilute the product's efficacy on the skin?

Additionally, Juice Beauty formulations are made without parabens, petroleum, propylene or butylene glycol, sodium lauryl sulfates, pesticides, phthalates, artificial dyes or synthetic fragrances. Their products are also animal cruelty-free.

Last May, it was such a pleasure to meet the bubbly Vernetra Young, Juice Beauty's International Sales Manager who lives and breathes organic. She even shared some tips on how to keep the house clean using baking soda and lavender essential oils.

At the intimate luncheon, Juice Beauty's new Stem Cellular range was also unveiled. Infused with potent Vitamin C, fruit stem cells, organic resveratrol rich grapeseed base, it's a natural solution to keep aging at bay.

The Body Shop Nature's Minerals Blusher Brush

For someone who only applies sunscreen + powder foundation in the morning, the right brush is critical. I wrote about the Ellana Baby Buki Brush but mentioned that it fans out too much which results to sheer coverage (at least, sheer for my liking). I've been using this brush since forever, but I secretly longed for a denser brush in the same size.

At one of my previous beauty loot exchanges with Kari, I handed her an Innisfree brush and she swapped it with her The Body Shop Nature's Minerals Blusher Brush. I have the Extra Virgin Minerals Powder Foundation Brush which was perfectly dense but not portable since it was larger and more bulky. The former is shorter (only about 2.5" tall) yet had the same [animal cruelty-free] bristles. I was excited to use it the next day.

What's New: Myra VitaGlow BB Cream

We love multi-purpose products, don't we? A cheek stain that doubles as a lip tint, moisturizer spiked with sunscreen, a leave-on cleansing water that removes makeup, while toning, and moisturizing skin. If it can cut my beauty routine in half, I'm in! This is why BB creams are still mainstays of our kikay kits -- it lightly covers imperfections, evens skin tone, protects from UV rays, all while keeping skin soft and supple. Generally speaking, it's an all-in-one product.

Myra, the brand most known for infusing Vitamin E in its product line, released the Myra VitaGlow a couple of years back. In a nutshell, it was a tinted moisturizer loaded with lots of glitter! It had so much promise, but the shimmer was just too much for me.

But hey, here's some good news: Myra recently released VitaGlow BB Cream which is supposedly an amped up version of their tinted moisturizer.

My press gift came in a screaming hot pink (and travel-friendly) personalized pouch, which when unraveled, revealed two BB cream shades (Ivory and Beige), plus a makeup brush set.

perfect for travel, wouldn't you agree?

Photo Story: My first beauty loot exchange

Finally, after months of waiting (on Kari's part) we were able to have dinner with the elusive Ae. I can't believe that Kari has only corresponded with Ae via email since their first meeting in 2011! Click here for a quick photo story on the Clinique Spa-arty.

Anyway, we all had dinner in the newly opened Tim Ho Wan in Megamall. We did wait in line for maybe less than an hour, which was all good because the food (most especially the Baked Pork Buns below) was fantastic! FYI, Tim Ho Wan is now known as the most affordable Michelin restaurant with branches in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Manila.

look at these two! :)

Review: Be Organic Bath & Body Argan Oil Shampoo and Face Wash

I always love discovering and trying new organic brands, more so if they're locally made. When I had a meeting with Be Organic owners Ann and Peter, I was very much interested in how they started the company. Anne shares, her husband Peter suffered from acne and they even brought him to a known dermatology clinic and yet it did not alleviate his condition. Furthermore, her daughter has very sensitive skin. They'd always try other popular international baby-friendly brands such as Aveeno and J&J yet her rashes still persisted.

That's when she decided to create her own line of personal care products derived only from natural sources. Thus, Be Organic Bath & Body was born. Their bestsellers include the the Argan Oil line, for obvious reasons, since argan oil is touted as liquid gold and offers a lot of skin benefits.

Argan Oil Shampoo
Our Premium Sulfate-free Shampoo is a blend of rich natural ingredients and the amazing miracle oil, Argan. This gentle formula cleanses the hair while nourishing it with Argan Oil, Silk Protein, Panthenol and Nutrients.
