Natural flush: Ellana Pressed Mineral Blush Duo in Kitten & Peach Passion

Do you remember those days when cheek tints were all the rage? My first blush/cheek tint was from The Body Shop which used to be in a roll-on applicator. Coming from an all-girl Catholic school, we were not allowed to wear "makeup" everyday and so I mostly wore just lip balm and Johnson's pressed powder. Once in while I'd sneak in the little TBS cheek tint for that glow-from-within flush. I thought it was the best thing ever -- it was in a teeny classy glass bottle and was advertised as "made with crushed rose petals". And mind you, I bought that advertising fluff hook, line, and sinker. Eventually they replaced it with the [watered down] cheek tint in a plastic tube with a doe foot applicator. I tell ya, it was much more fun before.

Anyway, the last time I fell in love with a blush was during early 2000 when L'Oreal released their Blush Delice in Pink Marshmallow. We hoarded those because the pink was just right and the shimmer gave us that elusive glow. It's still available now but the shade has changed, it used to be a fresh cotton candy pink with shimmer but now it's a tad darker (yes, we notice little things like this).

I haven't worn blush in a long time (except maybe when I'm forced to, like during events and stuff) and I'm glad that Ellana gave me one of their newest pressed blush duos. I got the lightest called Kitten & Peach Passion:

Peach Passion & Kitten
Kitten is a fresh and very pretty pink shade, while Peach Passion is a nude blush which I believe can also serve as all over contour/glow powder. Both have an overspray of gold microshimmer which highlights the apple of your cheeks and doesn't make skin look oily.

lovely, lovely gold microshimmer

As with all mineral blushes, less is more. On my skin, Kitten looks absolutely natural! On my first try I thought the color was too faint and I ended up applying more than needed, but I soon got the hang of it and learned that I have to wait a while for the mineral blush to set in. I'm lazy so I used the same kabuki brush to apply Kitten on my cheeks.

Ellana definitely has other blushes to choose from, but this is what I'd recommend if you want that natural, I-can't-quite-put-my-finger-on-it flush. Gotta use Peach Passion more often and hopefully I will be able to write a separate post on it, too :)
