Rose Hip Oil: A lazy girl's beauty serum

Confession: I've been a lazy beauty blogger as of late. No, no, it's not about being lazy about posting on my blog because I do try to write more often, but work has been rather consuming. What I meant was, I'm too lazy now to fuss about skin care. I still do the whole shebang of cleansing, toning, and moisturizing, but I've cut my routine in half by using Rose Hip Oil.

I know I've sworn off oils when I broke out using Emu Oil and Argan Oil on the face (the latter does wonders to my hair, FYI), but everything changed when I came across the Kosmea Certified Organic Rose Hip Oil. While exploring the counters at the Glamourbox office last November, I came upon this small tester bottle of Rose Hip Oil that nobody wanted to use. I got curious, took it home, and never returned it! Haha, my boss (Hi Lia!) knows that I have grown to love it and there is no chance of me ever giving it back :P

I bet you're thinking, why use oil on an already combination-oily skin? Well the fact is, the Kosmea Rose Hip Oil isn't as oily as I thought it was going to be. It really is absorbed by the skin well, there's even a slight drag on the skin when I apply it because my skin just drinks it up. It does leave a slight sheen (not an oil slick, mind you),has a "wheat-ish herbaceous" smell, and it does have a strange amber color but overall it's a great all-in-one product. Very useful when travelling, in my opinion.

Before, I used to apply a separate night moisturizer + eye cream + spot treat blemishes = too long a routine for me. When I get home, I just want to relax, play with my dogs a bit, and plop onto bed. Now with Rose hip oil, I just apply 2 drops on my palm, use my fingertips to apply this over my face and eyes, and I'm done! I just apply the extra oily bits to my elbows.

Rose hip oil is said to be a great moisturizer, scar reducer, and overall skin nourisher. I can go on and on about its major skin benefits, but you can read that here. The most remarkable thing is that it has greatly improved my skin texture and tone, and even lessened my breakouts. It works great here and in the super cold weather in Korea. I recommend only using this at night though, as I use a moisturizer with SPF in the morning. But if you have dry skin, it will work as a day and night moisturizer :)

I tried looking for Rose hip oils in Healthy options and from local indie brands, but it's a little bit elusive. I've seen some on Instagram but they're almost clear in color, Kosmea's is amber which means it's not overly refined and still contains lots of the antioxidants and fatty acids. I was able to score a few bottles of Rose Hip+ on 50% sale at Beauty Bar, they're in my stash awaiting usage once I run out of Kosmea.

Anyway, so that's another beauty dilemma solved! I'm glad it's working well for my sensitive skin, love the fact that it's certified organic, too!

You can buy one at Currently sold out at Glamourbox.

How do you cut your skin care routine in half? Any tips? :)

Disclosure: I work as the Business Development Officer of Glamourbox. The Kosmea Rose Hip Oil I am using is a tester sent by the brand. Opinions are all mine, this is not a sponsored post.
