Tranquil Chill Trio from Human Heart Nature

Only 2 hours to go before we ring in the new year, and I know that I shouldn't be thinking or worrying about stuff but allow me to let it all out before the clock strikes 12. First of all, I'm a little annoyed that the salon I went to today transformed my hair into a bluish/green shade when it was supposed to be Ash Brown. They told me it would wash off in a couple of weeks (!) but I said I had reunions and work starts on Monday so I can't wait that long. Well, in the end I just decided that I should have the color rectified by JuRo Salon Exclusif so I hope to be able to do that this weekend. Serves me right for trying to save by going to another salon. Argh.

Anyway, let me tell you about this awesome gift that was given to us by my Tita. As you all know, I love anything infused with peppermint or mentholated, so this pack was really a great surprise -- not to mention that it's 100% all natural and locally-made.

Presenting the "Tranquil Chill Trio" by Human Heart Nature:

This Christmas bundle contains the ff:

  • 100% Natural Hand & Foot Salve in Eucalyptus
  • 100% Natural Lip Balm in Peppermint
  • Balm for All Seasons Soothing Balm

New discovery: Bobble Water Bottle

Travel bugs will certainly enjoy this new product called Bobble. I've seen this a couple of months ago at The Ramp, Trinoma and spent a good 10 minutes just reading the packaging and deciding whether to get one or not. I was in tipid mode back then so I ended up empty-handed and vowed to pick one up before my Korea trip in December. True enough, I grabbed one Bobble for me and my Dad last week, a few days before I flew out.

Bobbles are fun, reusable bottles that filter water as you drink. It has a colorful carbon filter inside that ingeniously purifies tap water removing chlorine and other impurities, thus making it safe for drinking anytime, anywhere. Bobbles are also FDA-approved BPA free, and free of Pthalates and PVC; great for people who travel, sports enthusiasts, or for those who need to have a handy bottle of water throughout the day.

My main reason for getting one was I needed to pysch myself up to drink water several times a day without spending too much money on bottled water. In turn, this translates into less plastic bottles in landfills. Pretty cool, huh?

Korea Chronicles: My travel-worthy beauty products

Hello everyone! Whenever I pack for a vacation (whether domestic or international), I always *try* to trim down my skin care products in half -- or at least bring multi-tasking products because I don't want to have to scramble every morning getting ready. And how I see it, I don't have the luxury of spending too much time in the bathroom because time's a wasting when you're abroad.

As this is my second time to head to Korea, I sort of knew what I needed already.

Cleansing:

I wasn't about to strip my skin dry from over-cleansing so I brought my Bioderma Sensibio and VMV Moisture Rich Cleansing Milk. Both are gentle and loaded with moisturizing ingredients to remove makeup, excess oils, and other impurities without leaving skin taut. Love that they come in small sizes, too. I got my Bioderma from Singapore and my VMV cleanser was part of a Christmas promo (VMV Glorietta sells travel sizes individually, great buy if you travel a lot and want smaller containers).

Moisturizers:

I have combination skin but I wasn't too keen on switching to more emollient products for fear that they may clog my pores or make me oilier. I brought my Celeteque Water-based Moisturizer (not in photo) which I use during the day under liquid makeup, and my Chia Serum at night which doubles as an eye treatment as well. Coincidentally, I am running a giveaway on the Chia Serum -- check it out here. Chia Oil is making waves abroad and this could be your chance to score one!

For lips, it was a no-brainer -- I brought my Hurraw! Mint Lip Balm though it proved that it couldn't keep with the frosty weather.

Note to self: Bring a more intensive balm next time I head north, Neutrogena Norwegian Formula preferably.

For the lazy: My Fave Micellar Cleansers

It took me a while to get the hang of using micellar water, as I've always made it a point to wash ff makeup at the end of the day. But in the last couple of weeks during my transition into the world of insurance and investments, sometimes I'd get home by 1:00 AM after a slew of meetings with clients, and in turn I'd feel so lazy and tired to wash off my makeup. It was during this time that I have learned to love micellar cleansing waters -- by virtue of it being so easy to use and being able to cut my cleansing routine in half.

What is Micellar Water?

Made of "micelles" which are tiny oil molecules suspended in water, this unique solution has been enjoyed by the French back in the 90s as a way to cope with the notorious harsh water in their region. It's been mainly kept as a French secret, until makeup artists, models, and celebrities started gushing about the no-rinse formula. Now, everyone's raving about micellar water!

Mustela: Nurturing Skin Care for Yummy Mummies & Babies

Mustela has always been on the forefront of providing effective but ultra-gentle products for Moms and babies. I'm not expecting, but Mustela has already become a huge part of my life since I discovered it last year. You can read all about Physiobebe which I used as a gentle makeup remover, and since then it has continued to be part of my skin care routine.

Mustela re-launched their line last year infusing their products with Avocado Perseose, an active ingredient that acts as a shield against external stresses, thus protecting the skin's cellular reserve. And then last October, Mustela presented a few of their bestsellers with improved formulations, plus introduced their Sun Protection line.

The event was held at French modern cafe, Le Creperie, which was a stone's throw away from my then-office, Glamourbox. I seldom attend events but I was very excited to support Mustela and also chat with fellow beauty bloggers.

Review: Healing Herbs Lab Pure Chia Face Serum + a Giveaway!

If you recall, I received my Chia Oil from Healing Herbs Lab on Etsy last November. I've never been so excited to try a new skin care product! Chia oil is currently having a moment as it's touted as the [best] facial oil that can combat wrinkles and skin aging. Heralded as a "wonder" product, Chia oil contains omega-3 oils which boost skin hydration and also treat a number of skin disorders. Chia oil facial serums have been sprouting everywhere and have been costing a pretty penny, why even Gwyneth Paltrow and Miranda Kerr are fans!

My Chia Serum is from Healing Herbs Lab, it is 100% cold-pressed (the chia seeds themselves are from Mexico, non-GMO and organic) and processed in Croatia where the lab is based. I had to clarify exactly what cold-pressed meant so I asked the folks over at Healing Herbs Lab as I was curious about how they extract the oil. They shared:
Cold-pressed oils are derived from a mechanical process. You have to put enormous force and friction on seeds and the oil will steep out of them. The whole process is done at low temperatures and is more expensive, but this method produces higher quality oil with better color and flavors.

When in Singapore: IKEA Tampines

We travelled from Yishun to Tampines to visit the huge IKEA showroom. I can't quite remember how long the travel time was exactly (maybe an hour or so?) and we had several stops along the way. All I can say it that it was terribly far! This is my first visit to IKEA and I was overwhelmed, I wanted to buy so much stuff but of course, I realized I couldn't take them all with me on my trip back. I went with my college friend, Tin, who has been working in Singapore for the past 6 years.

Anyway, here are some snapshots of our "adventure":

someone is hoarding...
a pink workstation -- I want!

When in Singapore: Cozy Corner Coffee

It's easy to get bored and feel like you've seen everything in Singapore. I've been here a couple of times and my rose-colored tourist glasses came off on my 3rd visit. I now see Singapore as it is, crime, trash, traffic included, haha. But, it's still one of my favorite places and it's my top choice for impromptu trips abroad -- alone or with friends and family.

Anyway, every time I visit I make sure to check out at least 1 new establishment, preferably from indie entrepreneurs. This time, we headed to Cantonment Road which was about 30 minutes or so from Yishun (our starting point). We had our friend, Gaurav, escort us along Everton Park which had a strip of small cafes, food places, and ice cream parlors. I was really drawn to Cozy Corner Coffee and so we settled here and had brunch.

The quaint cafe can probably seat about 20+ people, it's very intimate and great for hanging out by yourself or with a few friends. I assume that it's managed by a Mom and Daughter tag team whom we met that day as they manned the cafe, prepared the food, and brewed their own coffee..

Pharmacy Finds from Singapore

I always tell myself never to take the last flight out of a country because the aftermath is exhausting, but lookie here, I did it again! I left Singapore at 9:00PM, arrived in Manila 3 hours and 20 minutes later.I got home past 1:30AM and was up til around 2:30AM talking to my Mom and sister. You could say I was totally knocked out the next day catching up on sleep. I used to do this all the time but I guess with age (ha!), I feel like it's something I cannot sustain. I need my beauty sleep!

Anyway, I didn't go crazy shopping at Singapore this time around mainly because I am saving my money for my 2 upcoming trips, plus this Singapore visit was so impromptu (it took me only 2 days to decide that I needed to fly out to relax). Nevertheless, I visited several pharmacies and took a mental note of what to get next time. Some of them I posted on Instagram so do follow me (@kirasworld) for sneak peeks :)

First and foremost, I love drugstore shopping because they have an amazing assortment of ecocert brands. Like A'kin for example, I've always read about it from green beauty blogs but I've only seen it on the shelves now. They have Rosehip Oil (yay) plus I really like the illustrations on their packaging.

The #BeautifulScience behind Pantene

The right conditioner is crucial when you have digipermed or chemically-treated hair. On a good day I can have glorious, full-bodied curls while on "bad" days my curls fall limp and the ends look really dry. This is why when I find a conditioner that I like -- can adequately moisturize my hair and keep the color vibrant -- I stick with it.

We're told that we have to follow the usual shampoo + condition + treatment mask regimen regularly to keep hair in tiptop shape. But you know what? To be quite honest, I don't have time to actually keep track of that. However with the right product, you can skip the weekly mask and your hair will be fine. Just choose a conditioner that works double duty as a deep moisturizing treatment (hint: Pantene) and add some argan oil to the tips (my personal secret weapon).

Rave: Browhaus HD Mascara

Have you ever curled your lashes to perfection, only for them to flop down once you've applied mascara? This has happened to me so many times I've almost lost all hope that I would find a mascara that would last all day, maintain the curl, and not give me panda eyes after a long day at work. I've tried drugstore brands as well as niche brands abroad, but as they say, "Close, but no cigar".

And then Tab Abad (Managing Director of Browhaus) handed me their new HD Mascara which I've heard so many good things about. Could this be HG material? Read on below to find out!

First things first, the Browhaus HD Mascara (Php 998/8ml) comes in its own fun, scribbled packaging. It promises long-lasting curl, smooth clump-free application, and boasts of a long-wearing waterproof formula. It contains clay minerals and waxes that is said to resist tears and sebum, ensuring that lashes stay lovely and curled for hours. It's also safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.

Hello, Barre3!

I've been thinking about working out for many years. Notice that the operative word is "thinking" because although there are so many options available now in my area, I would always blame my work schedule and lack of time just to push back exercising. The idea of exercising --- ooh, chiseled abs, a well-toned back -- was enticing but the thought of actually heading to a gym? I was too lazy for that.

Anyway, now that I am switching careers and at the tail-end of my current job, all of a sudden I had the luxury of managing my own schedule and allot time for working out. So last Monday, I decided that I would troop to Barre3 at The Fort before my evening meeting.

Why Barre3?

Barre3 is a combination of yoga, pilates, and ballet. When I first visited their studio two years ago at the Fort, I met Des (one of the yoga teachers) and I remember her inviting (nay, challenging) me to try Barre3, however at that time I wasn't interested. But as I am a very emotional being, I remembered her kindness and her warm welcome. I also took up ballet when I was younger and so anything with ballet thrown in has a special place in my heart, so I immediately booked 3 classes for only Php 1,500.

There's been a foaming face wash takeover at home. Though I do love my cream cleansers, sometimes when my skin is oilier than usual I reach for a proper foaming facial wash. Rediscovering Venus & Mars Naturals

The blog has been sort of on remission for the past 4 months as you'd notice the posts have been more sporadic and reviews have been farther and farther apart. I've been in training with AXA Philippines since August and it's been quite a fun and interesting ride, but the juggling of 2 jobs has proved to be more exhausting than I initially imagined. It's doable but exhausting, and so I have decided to just focus on one for now. The thing is, the transition is also taking longer than expected and is somewhat dampening my spirits.

Anyway, the first order of business is to get back to blogging and catch up on backlog. So this is one of the posts that's been lingering in my hard drive for quite some time. Though it's short and not a full-on review, featuring natural indie brands has always been quite a pleasure for me and this time around I'm going back to my old fave -- Venus & Mars Naturals

My 4th IPL + V-Blush Treatment at Strip Manila

Just a quick update on my ongoing IPL Ace treatments with Strip Manila. I'm now on my 4th session and I'm very happy to report that hair is now finer and sparse in some places. Skin has also improved, it's now lighter and smoother. To be quite honest, I always look forward to having my monthly sesh since being hair-free in itself for a good 4-5 weeks is such a great deal already (the length of time will depend on your hair growth).

And if you find yourself at the Strip Manila Greenbelt branch, do request for Jasmine as she has the lightest hands ever. She'll thoroughly take care of you during the treatment and she's such a joy to talk to also.

Anyway, if you're looking at spoiling yourself this Christmas, I would highly recommend availing of the ongoing promo of Php 20,000 for 6 IPL Ace sessions (that's 6 each sessions of IPL and V-Blush). Pretty good deal, yes?

Wake up to younger-looking skin with L'Oreal Revitalift

There is an ongoing joke at home that I might never age because of the creams, oils, and other anti-aging concoctions I try (and let my sister and Mom try as well -- I have yet to convince my Dad to hop on the anti-aging bandwagon). But really, I believe that it's always better prevent the signs of aging by employing an effective skin care regimen and applying sunscreen at all times. My Mom made me start in grade school by virtue of using a water-based gel moisturizer and sunscreen every day. So thanks, Mom! :)

But for those who are just starting their skin care regimen now or are already looking at addressing the signs of aging, you're in luck! We have so many products now with advanced ingredients that can easily deter aging and improve skin tone. It's a far cry from the [limited] selections I grew up with. Read on and learn more about the new additions to L'Oreal's popular Revitalift line.

Firm, tighten, and achieve that youthful V-shaped face with this ingenious product. This all-over face serum contains caffeine to reduce puffiness and best applied after toning your skin. It's recommended to apply this in an upward motion starting from your neck, jaw, or cheeks in order to help tone and "lift" your features.

Finally! My Chia Seed Oil Arrives!

In my last post, I blogged about the ongoing fascination with facial oils specifically Chia Oil. I really, really was hellbent on purchasing the famous Supercritical Chia Oil from One Love Organics but I found it to be too expensive for my budget at the moment. Add the fact that I had 2 bottles of Kosmea Rose Hip Oil still waiting in the wing, it didn't seem wise to spend/experiment on another facial oil product.

Side note: At this rate, is there any chance I will still age with all the facial oils I've been using? Kidding.

Happy Halloween from Pixie!

At my last trip to Korea, I purchased this fleece bunny costume for Epsilon. He was only 2 months old then and I was so excited to dress him up for Halloween. Fast forward to today, Epsilon had a growth spurt by his 7th month and now couldn't fit in it! So the fluffy bunny costume has been passed on to our little Chi, Pixie.

Aww..isn't she the cutest? She fell asleep during the shoot.

What did your little furbaby wear this year?

My Flaxen Blonde Balayage by JuRo Salon Exclusif

Who would have thought that the word "blonde" would ever enter my hair vocabulary? I've always been very conservative with regards to my hair color choices, I'd usually select "Medium Brown" or "Chestnut Brown" when asked but never in my life have I ever thought of going lighter.

Well, that was until I met Jude and Rose of JuRo Salon Exclusif. On my birthday a few weeks ago, I paid them a visit because I was in dire need of a change plus my roots were already showing. To backtrack a bit, I've been going to JuRo for my hair needs since 2012 and I've never looked back. My last hair color session was in July where Jude chopped off the curls and Rose gave me a nice bronde (an interesting mix of blonde and brown) color, my first foray into the world of lighter hair color.

But since it was my birthday, these two had more interesting plans for me. They invited me over to their very posh Zen-inspired studio in Makati making the experience more intimate and special. I was definitely given the full-on VIP treatment, and I loved it!

A gift from Bow & Wow for Epsilon

I'm always thrilled to receive press gifts. Whether it's shampoo, perfume, or a bikini, I am always truly thankful that companies trust me and my blog. But you know what's more thrilling for me? It's when brands actually send me stuff for my family, or for Epsilon.

I've always been very vocal about my love for dogs and my Instagram is even proof of how much I adore my little Epsilon and Komiki. So I am really thankful that Bow & Wow sent a few gift cards my way.

Epsilon and his weird poses
I plan to go shopping this coming weekend, and I'll definitely post my finds here. Thanks so much, Bow & Wow! Read all about Bow & Wow and the new pet revolution!

Happy 1st birthday Epsilon!

My, how time flies! From being a teeny ball of fur that my Dad flew in from Mindanao, Epsilon has now turned into a full grown Chihuahua so full of energy and spirit. He's the reason I am so excited to go home every day, even though he annoyingly jumps over me all the time, wakes me up at 6:30 am even on weekends, and licks my face incessantly. I still miss Pnut every so often, but I'm sure glad Epsilon came into my life.

Happy birthday, my little Epsilon!
I love you :)

Thank you to My Life on Paws for his Pawesome Doggie Bowl Cake with veggie and fruit nibblers.

Strip Manila and Browhaus Opens in SM Megamall

Our favorite waxing salon and the brow expert is now open at the Mega Fashion Hall of SM Megamall. Browhaus really is very close to my heart because 4 years ago I really had bad eye brows (as in they were uneven and I still didn't know how to properly fill them in), and it was only through several regular threading sessions with Marissan that my brows became the gorgeous pair they are today. So really, if you're a newbie and need brow guidance, or if you want to resurrect your thinning brows, then Browhaus really is the way to go!

And then Strip, where do I begin. I love their scented waxes that can pull out even the teeniest of hairs, and of course their IPL Ace treatments are the best in terms of long term hair removal and skin tightening. So, Northerners rejoice as Strip and Browhaus is now a little bit closer to us! Here are some photos from the Carnival-themed launch a few weeks ago:

Hello cooler weather, hello facial oils!

The cooler weather is back, thank god! It's time to break out my favorite Kosmea Rose Hip Oil which I raved about last year. To be honest, I had to switch to lighter and water-based moisturizers because the summer heat was making my face perspire, thus making facial oils a no-go during these trying times.

Anyway, you what my favorite past-time at work is? Apart from listening to my Soundcloud playlists, I like to voraciously research on new skin care discoveries (facial oils in particular) from international indie brands. I mean, I love Kosmea (and I have a backup of the famous RHO that will last me one more year) but I am also curious about these new oils.

Discovering Himalaya Herbals: Purifying Neem & Clear Complexion Facial Washes

I love shopping in drugstores because there are just so many indie products and so many brands to discover! I've been seeing Himalaya Herbals for some time but I never got around to trying them out. You could say I was curious but I wasn't too compelled to purchase because I had an assortment of cream cleansers just waiting to be used.

Good thing Himalaya Herbals got in touch and kindly sent me a pack of their best-selling products! Himalaya Herbals, family-owned brand that was founded in 1930, is a recognized global pioneer and leader in the use of modern science in the development of herbal products. They specialize in using 100% herbal actives and their products are free from SLS/SLES, parabens, pthlates, and are hypoallergenic. The products are primarily manufactured in Dubai and India.

Purifying Neem Facial Wash (for normal to oily skin) is specially formulated to give you clear, problem free skin. It's a soap-free, daily use face wash gel that cleanses your skin by removing excess oil and impurities without over-drying. Neem, well-known for its purifying and antibacterial properties, kills problem-causing bacteria. Combined with Turmeric, it helps control acne and pimples leaving your skin soft, clear, refreshed and problem-free.

Join the healthy pet food revolution now!

Okay, everyone knows how much I love Pnut (who sadly passed away last year) and of course, my dearest Epsilon. Dogs are my life! I love them to bits and will gladly sacrifice beauty-related expenses just to make sure Epsilon and Komiki are healthy and well-fed. Remember that time when I brought Komiki to the vet and spent almost a small fortune on blood work and meds?! Prevention is always better than cure, so I really advocate choosing the right vet, the right dog food, treats, and supplements.

Epsilon says hi!
In 2010, I wrote about Bow & Wow (it was a new store then) and the thought of having a healthy store for pets was unheard of -- but I was seriously ecstatic! If we spend so much time preening ourselves and being careful of what we consume, shouldn't it be the same for our pets since they are considered as family members as well?

Bow & Wow is the first all-natural pet food store in the Philippines. I like visiting because they take all questions seriously and they have an assortment of premium, additive-free, and preservative-free pet food from the USA. Plus, they also have a great selection of quality grooming products, toys, and accessories for happy and healthy pets. Pet Care Advisors here are either a diploma-holder of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or a licensed veterinarian.

Now, Bow & Wow is urging everyone to join the pet revolution and be aware of what you feed your pets! As not all pet food brands are created equal, pet parents need to be more selective and aware of what they feed their precious four-legged babies. This really fun video (with a catchy 90s song to boot!) stars Bow the Dog and Wow the Cat and educates us on the importance of choosing the proper diet -- go for organic, natural, and nutritious alternatives rather than over-processed food with by-products and low nutritional value.

Absolute fave: Kiele Baby Cologne

Previously featured in my "Robbing the cradle: My fave baby products" entry, Kiele has been a mainstay in my bag, room, and gift list. I've been giving them out to friends and relatives (and yes, even to my AXA clients) because everyone needs to arm themselves with an anti-mosquito product that smells great.

Kiele offers a refreshing scent for all ages that is as safe as it is pleasant. Infused with all natural Citronella and Neem Oils and crafted using carefully selected ingredients from France, it serves as both a great everyday cologne and mosquito-repellent in one.

Review: Oseque High-End Touch Makeup

Hi, Ae here again from An Artechoke guest-blogging for Kira! I hope you’re not tired of my mug yet, as I’ll be reviewing a face product for Elegantly Wasted today (of course, we'll never get tired of your guest blogs, Ae! :) - Kira)

Kira sent me this beautifully packaged product to try and share my thoughts on. I have been a fan and long time user of Korean cosmetics and although it’s my first time to encounter the brand, I couldn't be more excited! Oseque is a brand of nature-friendly skincare and cosmetics from Korean company Songhak, and the High End Touch is one of their newer makeup products.

High End Touch 21 features a new concept roller applicator that provides hands-free application for fresh coverage. Simply press the applicator for the amount needed. The formula contains extracts from plants and fermented nutrients to keep skin moist and hydrated from within. Depending on the angle of the light, High End Touch also highlights the contour of the face for a 3D reflection effect to make the face look smaller and blemish-free. The soft illumination prevents skin looking from shallow and maintains natural skin tone during the long wear. High End Touch is more than a foundation. It's a multi skin care product that reduces wrinkles, brightens skin, and blocks UV rays. It also restores elasticity and glowing health to skin.
Price: Php 2,995/30ml (inclusive of 3 Oseque High-End Touch, 3 puff refills, and free Victoria Sunglasses)

Review: Recipe Crystal Sun Spray SPF 50 PA+++

This is my second post on the products I received from O Shopping, the newest lifestyle shopping show which is aired 24/7 via Channel 11 of SkyCable and Global Destiny. It also airs late nights at ABS-CBN. You can read my first review on the O' Care Dry Shampoo here

We all know that sunscreens are a non-negotiable part of our skin care routine. Proper application not only help block harmful UVA and UVB rays, but also effectively prevents premature aging, fine lines, and wrinkles. I also know that a lot of people still prefer to skip this step as typical sunscreens do feel icky and heavy, to mention really thick and pasty.

Enter Crystal Sun Spray, a Korean product that makes the application of sunscreen super easy and fun!

Transparent Spray Sun Block (SPF 50+, PA+++); No stains and lumps; Convenient to use sun spray – use before/after makeup, anytime and anywhere, and can be applied to a wet skin; Refreshing Feeling – Soft skin without the feeling of stickiness; Continuous moisture and cooling effect; Softer skin without the stickiness of the regular sun spray; Can be used as facial mist and makeup fixer
Price: Php1,995 (inclusive of 4 x 150ml products)

Can you survive without a good ol' cup of joe in the morning? The aroma of coffee just instantly perks anyone up! Now imagine the same inviting warm smell in a body scrub -- yes? YES, please!

Jarful of Goodness came up with another fabulous body scrub (thanks for sending a jar over, girls!) that not only awakens your senses but also provides anti-aging, skin exfoliating, and moisturizing benefits.

The combination of freshly ground coffee and dead sea salt results to moisturized, young-looking and glowing skin. First impressions: Eden's Paradise Whitening Blue Salve

I woke up at 6:00 AM today excited for my training at AXA Philippines (I'm on my last leg of training) when our manager texted that today's session is cancelled because of the strong rains. While I would normally enjoy this particular respite from work (I can catch up on sleep and relax, what joy!) my brain, however, is up and about and now I can't sleep! Does anyone else have this problem? My brain is on hyper-drive right now. Epsilon and Komiki are asleep beside me though.

Anyway, I have so many Glamourboxes on my counter! What do you do with yours? I've used some as storage containers for lipsticks, accessories, and other knick knacks. Any other more creative ways to re-use them?

Speaking of Glamourboxes, the Beauties and Babies release is probably one of my favorite boxes aesthetics-wise. I love the design of the postcard, how the pinks and blue labels and packaging of the samples mesh well together, and of course I love the contents -- it's really a great selection of hypoallergenic brands that I am so excited to try! So, here are my first impressions of the Whitening Blue Salve from Eden's Paradise, a relatively new brand that I had the pleasure of meeting when I was scouting for brands to join the box (FYI, I handle BizDev at Glamourbox).

This is technically not a new innovation as it reminds of the Bikini Bomb of another brand which I haven't tried but my sister is a fan of. It's orange in color and the function is very, very similar to this.

Rave: Belo SunExpert Sunscreens

You know how sometimes you tend to forget/neglect those products that you use on a daily basis? Sometimes I get so focused on reviewing the "new arrivals" and "new releases" that I forget practical ones that have taken permanent residence in my skin care routine.

One such product is the Belo SunExpert which I got from my Special Edition Belo Glamourbox. Granting, I'm a drugstore shopper through and through but I've never even tried these nor even thought of purchasing them even when I've been seeing them on the shelves for years (and they were in the hard plastic cases back then). I just though that they weren't compelling enough to buy, but now I'm so glad that I finally got to test them!

Anyway, I've been using these especially the body variant since I got the box and even brought it with me to Singapore last August. To cut the long story short, the Belo SunExpert Face Cover SPF 40 (Php 329.75) and Body Shield SFP 60 (Php 459.75) broad spectrum sunscreens are winners in my book! They're both positively non-sticky, and are absorbed really well by the skin. You know how other sunscreens (even though they're called sheer and non-greasy) still leave a little bit of sheen after application? If you have oily skin like mine, this supposed sheen is a dealbreaker because it makes me feel icky and still contributes to shine later on.

Philippine Airlines: Your Home in the Sky

I've been flying PAL since birth, and I thought it would be nice to share their new #FeelAtHome campaign. Growing up, my Dad used to tell us to become Flight Attendants (obviously I didn't heed his advice) but my sister ended up working for PAL and has been there for the past 8 years (!). So technically, PAL has been with me through my travels to Mindanao (where my Dad is based), to my memorable trip to India, and to the winter wonderland called Korea.

I am so excited to travel to more countries with Philippine Airlines!

Fall in love all over again with Avon's Sweet Honesty

I've always known scents to be such a strong memory stimuli. A whiff of certain perfumes transports me back to memorable points in my life: from my cavalier college days, to my first job, to animated summers in the province, each scent I've favored reminded me of important facets in my life. It is why I think it's important to grow and discover your own signature scent. As we mature, our tastes change, and so does our fragrance choices.

Avon, the company for women and leading fragrance provider, has partnered with the world’s leading fragrance makers and celebrities for its wide range of signature scents. Avon joins us in another life journey as they release 2 new Sweet Honesty variants to accompany the iconic Sweet Honesty Classic.

Probably the most longstanding Avon fragrance I could remember, Sweet Honesty has always been present during my childhood. Though I wasn't a fan of the warm musky scent, I'd remember my older cousins spritzing Sweet Honesty while getting ready for school (or a night out with the girls, or for a date!) and I'd sit on the edge of the bed and watch them as they twirled and giggled.

Loved primarily for its playful, flirty, and timeless scent, the Sweet Honesty Classic takes women back to that exciting feeling of attraction, when they first met and fell in love. It offers the warm musky scent that's been popular for decades.

Sweet Honesty Moments rekindles the fondest memory of love with the juicy scent of pomegranate, blended with lavish lilac, rose, and jasmine.

Sweet Honesty Forever is a unique scent that brings back that unexplainable feeling of optimism and excitement, while waiting for your one true love. It delivers the feminine scent of everlasting florals and scintillating fruits, with just a hint of warm musk. This is a modern and more playful scent. Love this!
