What's new: The SM Beauty Box

Beauty boxes are all the rage nowadays. SM is jumping on the bandwagon and is releasing their own beauty box which will be available for a limited run starting August 1.

Thanks to ARC PR for sending me the SM Beauty Box early this week. The 799-peso SM Beauty Box houses more than Php 4,000 worth of products! This is definitely a steal for all Watsons-junkies (Kira raises hand!) out there.

Check out the contents:

For scale, I "asked" my Shih Tzu, Komiko, to sniff the box so I can have her photo taken with it. Tee-hee. It's a huge ass box, I tell ya!

My Ultimate Diamond Facial experience (plus a giveaway!)

Getting a facial is one of my guilty pleasures. When I'm stressed out, I usually turn to facials, doze off for a bit and wake up refreshed and energized. I've been extremely busy the last 2 months with work and school, and my regular facial treatments have somehow taken a back seat.

Last Wednesday, I finally got the chance to try out SKIN Dermatlology & Laser Centre at The Spa in Fort. Okay, admittedly this is my first time at The Spa yet I’ve heard (and read) so many good things about it – most especially the ginger tea.

Warm smiles greeted me as soon as I entered SKIN, the refreshing peppermint aroma is also hard to ignore. Aaaah, I feel relaxed already! The offered me their signature ginger tea, and boy it really lived up to the hype!

Peppermint bliss: Human Nature Pure Strength Black Diamond Cleansing Bar

Natural products are usually a hit or miss for me, but one product that I'm gushing about lately is the Human Nature Pure Strength Black Diamond Cleansing Bar. It's been around for a year, but I only mustered up the courage to try it 2 months ago. I was purchasing the Tough Love 100% Natural Liquid Detergent online when I decided to throw in some peppermint soaps as well. The soaps are marketed towards the male population but the word "peppermint" on the label piqued my curiosity.

No triclocarban. No synthetic fragrances. No parabens. No EDTA. No sulfates. 100% No harmful chemicals.
The Pure Strength Black Diamond Cleansing Bar contains deep-cleansing bamboo carbon known in East Asia as the “black diamond” for its powerful beneficial properties. It’s charged with all-natural premium powerful ingredients and none of the compromising chemicals. So staying clean and looking good goes beyond good grooming. It’s good stewardship.
Price: Php 79.75/120g

Flower Power: Freeway Mixed Prints 2013 Lookbook

Brighten up your wardrobe with Freeway's newly released floral collection. Admittedly, I LOVE floral anythings, it's such a great way to ward off the drab rainy season, right?

Watercolor floral print Black Twofer Workdress with belt P1495
Watercolor floral print Navy blue Shift Dress P1395
The prints are comprised of blossoms with a watercolor and painting effect, seemingly comparable to wearing a beautiful collage of roses, tulips, orchids and more on a canvass. As for the colors, a mixture of sweet colors such as pink, blue, yellow, red and green are used, very much like the hues you see on a beautiful garden.

From the box design down to the shredded paper, it was customized to match the Avon theme. Are you ready for the unboxing?

Review: Mekhala Wholesome Natural Living Black Rice Shampoo & Conditioner

My sister and I have different skin sensitivities: when I use SLS-laden hair products, my scalp reacts and becomes terribly itchy and scaly within a few days; my sister's scalp, on the other hand, oils up when she's not hiyang with a specific product.

Oftentimes though, we'd switch hair shampoos just to mix things up and get rid of product build up. I just ran out of my favorite Pureology shampoo and decided to check my stash of products that are waiting to be reviewed and found the Mekhala Living Black Rice Shampoo & Conditioner from Vivi. I've never heard of Mekhala Living, let alone Brown Rice bath products, but since I trust Vivi (*big smile*), I decided to give these a try.

Called the "Forbidden Rice", Black Rice has long been revered for its health and beauty-giving properties. We have created a signature range, packed with anthocyanin antioxidants and Vitamin E, to fight the ravages of age and the environment. Treat yourself from head-to-toe with a luxury that was once the province of Emperors and noblemen.

"I Love Kusama" Exhibit at the Ayala Museum

Ayala Museum recently launched "Collectors Series", a new exhibition program that features private collections of the country’s leading art and antiquities collectors. This first collection features the vibrant and sometimes controversial works of art by Yayoi Kusama, popularly known for her Louis Vuitton collaboration.

I was able to personally check out the Louis Vuitton boutique in Singapore last year, I was initially drawn to the tentacles and the boisterous colors. At that time, I had no idea who Yayoi Kusama was.
Yayoi Kusama, born in Japan, 1929, is one of the leading and most influential figures of the avant-garde scene and is credited to be an important precursor of various art movements which took shape between the 1950s and 60s, namely Minimalism, Feminism and Pop Art. Kusama remains active and relevant at 84, as attested by her works being one of the main highlights of the recently concluded ArtBasel HK.

Notable Kusama installations include her immersive infinity mirror rooms that have been featured in institutions like the Whitney Museum of American Art and Tate Modern, and her iconic spotted pumpkin sculptures seen on both indoor and outdoor exhibitions in different countries. In 2011, Kusama also worked with fashion designer Marc Jacobs for a line of whimsical products and corresponding window displays for Louis Vuitton.
The event last Monday started with a press conference where art collector, Kim Camacho, spoke about her fascination and admiration for Kusama, even travelling to Japan to meet this very elusive artist. Ms. Camacho mentioned that it was a very rare opportunity indeed as Kusama rarely meets people, much more show them how she works on her art.

Unboxing: The Bridal Bliss Glamourbox

"Bridal Bliss" was the theme of last month's beauty box, a pretty obvious choice since a lot of women choose to get married during the happy month of June. Personally, I would rather avoid the rush and prefer to get married towards the -ber months or possibly on January. But hey, let's save that for another blog post ;)

Check out what the Glamourbox team curated for this particular month:

Eye of Horus Liquid Define: A very precise "Sharpie" for the eyes

Happy 1st of July! Half of the year is gone, and I am eagerly awaiting my upcoming trip to Korea. Only 5 months to go and I can't wait! I still need to go shopping for winter clothes, thermals and winter shoes, so please leave your suggested brands and stores below. This will be my first winter trip so I am clueless, haha.

Anyway let me tell you about our recent find, the Eye of Horus Liquid Define.

Liquid Define Eye Liner is an amazingly easy to use liquid "texta" that draws a gorgeous black line on your lid, allowing for perfect definition. Dries almost instantly and won’t imprint on eye lids. Stays on all day or night.
Eye of Horus Liquid Define can be "primed" keep the liquid through to the tip of the felt pen, open and turning cap upside down to make a “cup” bend the tip slightly to point down inside the cupped lid to push liner liquid to tip. This will keep the liquid in the barrel filled to the tip, and a beautiful full line.
Ingredients: Aqua, Acrylate Copolymer, Black2 (CI77266), Laureth-21, DEG-40 Hydrdgenated Castor Oil, Methylisothiazolinone (9.5%) Paraben Free
Price: Php 960
I brought this home one day and my sister immediately fell in love with it! The tip gives a precise, waterproof line that stays on the whole day. My sister works for an airline company and she wears full makeup everyday, so in a sense, she is the authority on makeup at home. This is a great partner to another long-wearing favorite, the Eye of Horus Natural Mascara
