OOTD: High Tea

Each cup of tea represents an imaginary voyage.  ~Catherine Douzel

Yesterday was the grand launch of SM Babies. The ARC PR team has been preparing for this glorious event since early November, and it was so nice to see it come to fruition. Located in the majestic The Peninsula Manila, the event required everyone to be aptly dressed for High Tea.

I normally don't take dress codes too seriously (because I get lazy sometimes), but I willingly embraced this particular requirement. I am game for anything vintage (or vintage-inspired). I've always admired the old-fashioned way of dressing -- gloves, high collars, hats and the traditional values and ladylike virtues that came with it.

Just when I thought I had *enough* lipsticks, my friend (hi Mara!) hands me Avon's Ultra Color Rich Brilliance Lipstick in Brilliant Ruby. Off the bat, the metallic pink case was pretty! And I couldn't wait to tear off the plastic and swatch it.

Your fave lipstick – now in a shimmering prismatic pearl* finish. Rich moisturizing color matched with shimmering prismatic pearls.

The Great Lifestyle Sale - up to 80% off!

After our lunch meeting at Aria Cucina Italiana yesterday, I spotted a familiar sign that boldly declared "SALE!" Curious as ever, Krissy and I decided to investigate further. Turns out we had stumbled into the "Great Lifestyle Sale" where almost everything was on 80% off!

The participating brands are as follows: Bench, Dimensione, Human, Kashieca, Charles & Keith, Pedro, Aldo, La Senza, Mothercare, T Studio, Call It Spring and F&X. Of course, my first stop was La Senza and oh goody, I was still able to score my favorite lingerie from last year for only Php 595 (and it was the very last piece, too!)

My Cygnett Aerosphere iPhone 4S Bubble Clear Case

When my sister gave me her iPhone 4S (because she now has an iPhone 5 -- *weep*!), the first thing I wanted was a clear or white case. She gave me her hot pink Mercury case which was well and good, but I really wanted something that wouldn't clash with my wallpapers.

So, I searched online and found the Cygnett Aerosphere iPhone 4S (Bubble Clear) Case at a relatively new shopping site called Lazada.

Cushion your iPhone on a bed of protective air bubbles with this futuristic, form-fitting and eye-catching case. The form-fitting Aerosphere features air bubbles which protect the front and rear glass of your iPhone — even if it's dropped face down. So protect your iPhone in style with the Aerosphere Bubble-effect case for iPhone 4s.

Strip Manila's Gingerbread Cookie Wax

Finally, I got my G12 yesterday! Woohoo! I spent a good Php 8,750 for the lens replacement because it was dropped last Christmas and the lens couldn't retract anymore :(

My friend, Shine, was nice enough to shoulder half of it (since her son, Shem, accidentally dropped it). So let it be known that whoever drops my camera next will have to pay the FULL amount! *insert evil laugh*

Honestly, guys, I missed my G12 so much and I'm so glad I'm back to blogging mode :)

Anyway, this is a tad late but I was able to try Strip Manila's Gingerbread Cookie Wax last December. Of course, the moment I was invited I couldn't wait to be hair-free again. And a gingerbread-scented wax? Wow, what could be more Christmas-y than that?

I stepped into Strip Manila's Greenbelt branch and the Gingerbread scent wafted through the air. Ahhh...

Best of 2012: Skin Savers

Sorry for the lack of posts! Finally I am getting my G12 this weekend, I had it repaired and had to wait 2 weeks for the parts to arrive from Singapore.

Every year, I try to round up all my beauty faves and choose the one that stood or has helped me most. For 2012, I couldn't just narrow it down to one so I am featuring several instead! This is part one of a two-part series :)

Flawless Nano Peel

If you recall, I broke out heavily at the start of 2012. It was probably from products that I tested, the shift from work-at-home to a regular day job, stress, exposure to the elements (I commute) plus other factors. Anyway, I've been doing at home remedies and used OTC products to no avail. I felt like I needed to go to a professional to clear up up my skin. A lot of bloggers have been raving about the Flawless Nano Peel so one fine day after work, I trooped to Flawless in Trinoma and had myself scheduled for a facial.

I didn't know what to expect, this would be my first facial outside of my Dermatologist of 10+ years. I was excited and scared at the same time. Mhel was assigned to be my facialist and one thing that I liked about her was her bubbly personality and how meticulous she was with extracting pimples and comedones. She also wasn't pushy and totally understood that I was only there for the peel and nothing else -- don't you hate it when people sell stuff to you while you're helplessly lying down?

Planning the year right with my Strip Manila planner

One of my favorite establishments this year is Strip Manila. After experiencing their brazilians here, I swore never to go back to my old waxing salon. The procedure offers less pain, I am hair-free longer, and the Striperellas are lovely and friendly.

Anyhoo, I'm not one for planners as usually all my meetings/event dates are either: a) in my head, b) in my notebook (I like being old school), or c) in my mobile phone. But, I don't think I can resist Strip Manila's exclusive press gift last Christmas -- not with the very thick high grade paper, interesting Strip images (featuring Jenny the Orangutan), and endless blank pages for doodles, wishlists, shopping lists, etc.

Congratulations, Strip, on your 10th Anniversary! And thank you for this thoughtful Christmas gift!

Mixing & Matching with Veloci Watches

I've always considered myself as somewhat of an average dresser. My closet is comprised of basic stuff (plain tops, well-fitting jeans, A-line dresses) and my shoes gravitate towards the classic ballet flats, strappy sandals and the occasional colored wedges. I don't consider myself trendy or bold in my fashion choices, I've always reserved that for the fashion bloggers out there.

one of my favorite OOTDs (click here)
My jewelry selection is also very prudent -- a classic ladies watch, gold or pearl studded earrings, and maybe a bracelet or two. It may be boring but what I always focused on was to look clean and decent at all times. Being comfy is also tops in my book, I would rather flats or wedges any day especially since I commute to work.

Occasionally though, I'd spike my look with colorful and quirky accessories or a really standout watch like Veloci.

Hair Heroes Intense Argan Oil Conditioner

Argan Oil has been the "it" ingredient for a while now, showing up in facial creams, bath and body products and hair conditioners. I was skeptical at first, and took my time before jumping on the Argan Oil bandwagon. Last year I purchased Argan Oil in its pure form, and just recently I decided to try the famous Snoe Beauty Argan Oil Conditioner.

Lavish your hair with the revolutionary liquid gold oil, grown in Morocco. With its multi-tasking benefits, Snoe’s 5-in-one Argan Oil easily absorbs into your hair follicle to give your hair that healthy sheen. It has astonishing conditioning and anti-aging properties to keep your hair nourished and revitalized, to keep you looking beautiful. Change the way you clean your hair!
Key ingredients:
Argan Oil - restores damaged areas, split-end protection, prevents further damage caused by styling and outdoor activities, improves hair elasticity and reduces hair loss due to breakage
Wheat Protein - anti-inflammatory, prevents hair breakage, moisturizes
Moringa extract - strengthens hair fiber, protects against environmental stress and pollution, improves hair surface, protects hair keratin quality after UV damage
Indian Sienna - improves hair surface, aids in maintaining the vibrant sheen of hair color
Price: Php 499/250ml

I am now on Instagram!

Well, I have been since early this year but I resisted (again!) and refused to post any photos, haha. So thanks to everyone who followed me even when my account was not yet active. However, the holidays had quite an effect on me and finally I've been bitten by the Instagram bug. Checkitout folks, I now have 20+ photos! *slow clap*

Anyway, I promised myself I wouldn't turn into a chronic Instagram-er. My feed is composed of food photos and other cute stuff, so if you like taking a peek into my life, my weekend binges (ehem) and ogle at my adorable pets, then please do follow me at @kirasworld (which coincidentally is also my Twitter ID, FYI) :D

MUMI: My Ultimate Mix of It bags

Last Christmas, I bid goodbye to my Samsung mobile and finally became a statistic -- I am now a proud owner of several Apple products. And to think for the longest time, I resisted owning anything from the brand -- I deemed it as too expensive and overrated. (Un)fortunately, my Dad and sister think otherwise. So they gave me my first iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad Mini. Wow talk about intervention.

As always the first thing that I scout for when I have new gadgets are protective films and cases, so much so that I scoured the malls on Christmas day just because I like keeping my gadgets in pristine condition. The carrying case took longer though, as even Power Mac didn't have cases for the new iPod Touch.

While shopping in Greenhills the week after Christmas, I spotted MUMI Bags in Theatre Mall. I was drawn obviously to the candy-colored cases and the cursive font. Ah cute aesthetics, always my waterloo.

Photo Story: Bloggers United 4

I am so lucky that I get to join Bloggers United with some of my favorite beauty and fashion bloggers. The last one was held at World Trade Center alongside the yearly Worldbex Christmas bazaar, you can tell that there was going to be a LOT of shopping at this particular event.

Partnered with Alex and armed with bags and bags of clothes, I was prepared to sell all my dresses, shoes and bags with the goal of using whatever I earned towards buying Christmas gifts for my sister, Mom and Dad. I was intent on keeping my Christmas pay for myself and saving it for this year's travel escapades.

So anyway, if you were not able to go here are some photos for you:

Me, Alex. Nio, John
Alex brought in the usual suspects: designer-slash-stylists Nio and John. They were so much fun! And they also designed, created and styled Alex's outfits :)
