Sweet surrender: My Moor Mud and Gemstone Treatment at Toccare Spa

I can't believe that in a few weeks, I will be celebrating my birthday and turning 32! OMG. When people ask me how old I am, I usually hesitate for a bit before answering. Not because I am embarrassed of my age, but because I need a few moments to remember how old I really am, haha. I was never particular about age, especially my age.

Anyway, I've reached that point in my life where I can afford certain luxuries on a regular basis. As I turn a year older next month, I promise that I'd relax more often and enjoy more ME time. This includes investing in more meaningful and intimate friendships, attracting only positive and good vibes, and loving myself more.

If I had my way, my ideal relaxation is to travel every 2 months (and I did for while), but that wasn't too good for my bank account (haha). So glad that I rediscovered the beauty of spas. As a control freak, a spa is a great way to get away from work and stress, to let go and surrender even for just a few hours.

I discovered Toccare Spa through my high school friend, Mira. Later on, I was able to meet the owner, the lovely Leah Dy, who turned out to be Mira's cousin!

Entering the spa is a memorable experience on its own: I immediately got a whiff of the relaxing scents of spices and lavender, the posh interiors and dim lighting already triggered my "relax mode", and the very helpful therapists are prim & proper and speak in hushed voices.

"Toccare" means "touch" in Italian, and also highlights the spa's famous massage treatments. On my first visit, I was due for a Moor Treatment at the Steam Room, followed by a Gem Stone Massage. Toccare prides itself in personalizing services so each guest is given the opportunity to select their preferred room scent, massage oil background music, and after treatment beverage. In case you were wondering, I chose peppermint all the way.

Here are photos of the themed rooms:

After the quick tour, I was escorted into the wet area where I took a shower and moor mud was applied over my body. Moor mud is know to cleanse skin of impurities, detoxify and even break down fat cells, couple those benefits with the warmth of the steam room and the effects are enhanced. You can wear your bikini, or if you're comfy you can come in in your birthday suit (I did!).

Note: I love steam rooms! I feel like I am sweating all the fat and toxins out of my body. Plus, my pores feel cleaner after, too!

Anyway, after that quick steam and a cool shower, I was ushered into one of the rooms for my Gemstone massage. I shared this room with Alex.

I don't have actual photos of myself while the treatment was ongoing, but I felt very relaxed as my therapist, Jen, massaged my body part by part. My sore calves really needed the kneading (I walk 4 blocks to the office, something that I consider as my "exercise") and my back was in dire need of a good massage. The gem stones added sort of a different "energy" to the treatment, and can even be used to "treat" certain ailments. I loved that Jen was very attentive to my needs, her pressure was just right, and she didn't bother me when I starting to doze off.

The whole massage was 90 minutes of pure bliss! I felt invigorated and energized after, Alex and I even had enough energy to attend a late night party after.

  1. WHOA the price. There used to be an awesome Php 350 / 1.5hrs massage in our area, but it's fallen to bad management and the masseuses are no longer as attentive. This price range is way too much for me!

  2. Hi, Tellie! I go to other spas, too, that offer massages at the price point you mentioned. For special occasions or on days I really want to feel pampered, I would definitely consider Toccare for the venue, amenities and personalized service :)
