Gloww: A month after

We all want healthier skin from within, hence the barrage of ingestives out in the market today. It's been said that pollutants, stress, an imbalanced diet, and the damages of sun exposure all hinder hinder us from getting healthy, glowing skin.

My skin care regimen consists of taking multivitamins everyday plus topical moisturizers/creams for maintenance. So when I was contacted by Gloww to testdrive their Gloww capsules, I was hesitant for a bit because I haven't really tried skin enhancing supplements. Would this actually work better than my tried and tested multivitamin capsules?

What is Gloww?

Gloww capsules promise to nourish, lighten, smoothen and give a pinkish tinge to skin. A licensed formula of MEGA Lifesciences Pty. Ltd., Gloww contains balance, optimal, and all-natural ingredients that will give your skin the nutrients it needs. Here are some more info lifted from the website:

Ah, summer, what power you have to make us suffer and like it

Can you tell in this photo that it was scorching hot that day? And yet, we had so much fun shooting! I really love the blue, cottony clouds in my photos!

My little nephew doesn't mind the heat though, lucky kid.

I am excited about...

...Innisfree Eco Natural BB Cream with SPF 25 from Vanilla Lush. Innisfree is known for creating natural, eco-friendly products that are affordable and skin-friendly. Check it out: their boxes are printed using soy-based inks and some labels use recycled tangerine skin. I am impressed!

...the new VMV Hypoallergenics skin care sets! "Red Better" is perfect for rosacea, redness flare-ups and even acne and atopic dermatitis! I always get dermatitis so this is really something I am excited to try :)

Chilling at the Mabuhay Lounge

I'd travel every other month or so if I could. The only thing I don't like is the anxiety when I think of what to pack. I am quite anal and although I know what to pack by heart, I still get that nagging feeling that somehow I've missed out on something or left something at home. I like to be prepared clothes-wise and toiletries-wise -- just take a peek into my bag and you'll understand how much of a girl scout I am.

Also (and I'm sure most of you can relate), I don't like mixing business with pleasure. But with my line of work and with WIFI everywhere (not to mention smart phones), it's a challenge to zone out and NOT work even when on vacation.

One of the things I do look forward to everytime I travel is chilling at the Philippine Airlines Mabuhay Lounge. Have you tried their Arroz Caldo? It's pretty damn good!

These are shots from my trip last week:

It's oh-so-quiet! I love it when I have an early start. The Mabuhay Lounge has separate areas for those who would like to sit back and relax, for those who want to have breakfast, and private cubicles for those who need to get some work done.

OOTD: Confetti Dreams

So how's everyone coping with the summer heat so far? I just got back from a vacation-slash-family reunion which explains my lack of updates. But I'm now back and I hope I find time to catch up with all my blog backlogs.

Anyway.....

We celebrated my Dad's 62nd birthday last month. Can you believe it --- my Dad does not look like he's 60 at all! (PS: We look alike, no? LOL) He flew in from Mindanao, we had dinner at Racks and we treated him to the Olivia Newton-John concert. It was one of the most memorable birthdays ever, especially since he has a HUGE crush on Olivia since the Xanadu days, haha.

For this event I wore my favorite peplum top from Chocolate Clothing Co. I must say, Chocolate is easily becoming one of my favorite stores as their girly selections are really right up my alley.

The top itself is pretty sheer, so I conveniently wore my Wacoal Bandeau top. Allow me to show you photos of how the bandeau blends well with the fabric:

Speak Out Against Domestic Violence with Avon

Everyone has experienced domestic violence one way or another, whether it's a harsh comment or an actual physical torment. Domestic violence is something that shouldn't be ignored and yet most of us would choose to turn the other cheek than help out or speak out against it.

Avon, the company for Women, makes it a bit easier for us to speak out against domestic violence. Recently, they released the Empowerment Circle of Support Necklace which is features a string of infinity symbols connected to each other. Each symbol represents a woman’s potential to live a full and decent life because she is free from the chains of domestic violence. The necklace also represents a promise of love and support, symbolizing a commitment to one’s self and to loved ones to help end domestic violence now.

Am wearing the Avon Empowerment Circle of Support necklace over my EarthlyDelights hand painted necklace :)
For every purchase of the necklace worth P199, P20 will go to Avon’s Speak Out Fund. This fund is used to support partner non-government organizations (NGOs)—Women’s Crisis Center in Manila, Gender Watch Against Domestic Violence (G-Wave) in Dumaguete, IMA Foundation in Pampanga, and Legal Center for Women and Children (LUNA) in Davao—as they maintain hotline numbers that victims and other concerned individuals can reach out to.

Aside from the necklace, the public is also encouraged to join the cause by purchasing Avon’s Moisture Blend Giftable Hand & Body Lotion, from which P5 will be earmarked for the same partner NGOs and initiatives.

Remember, abuse only stops when the public gathers the courage to Speak Out — and with Avon, everyone is empowered to make their voices count and be part of the change that can help save lives and families. This year’s Avon Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign aims to involve the youth as they share their creative ideas in coming up with public service ads that will help encourage more people to take on the cause.

Get Movie Star Brows with NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder

Picked this up from a stall in Trinoma last weekend (forgot the name, it's near Pop Culture). Since last year we've been using the IN2IT Waterproof Eyebrow Color but eventually we realized that we weren't too happy with the shade selection --- most had a reddish undertone that didn't work well with our skin and hair color.

Then we discovered the NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder:
Our recipe for cooking up exquisite eyebrows includes wax, tools and a pair of complementary powders, which can be customized to create the ideal shade. Each Eyebrow Cake Powder kit includes a slanted brush and a round wand to shape, style and tame eyebrows. Available in 6 different shades.
Mall price: Php 350

Goodies from JTomas Collection

These are some of the stuff the nice people of JTomas Collection sent over (special thanks to Ms. Chi and Joy Laureola). JTomas is the distributor of the Swallow Hair Collection, a premium mass brand that offers hair treatment solutions such as shampoos, conditioners, treatments, etc. Ask your Mom and I'm very sure she'd remember Swallow back in the 80s and 90s.

If you recall, I posted a review of the popular Monea Curling Defining Milk and Mangosteen Wax. The Mangosteen Wax does remove hair pretty darn well, and has been a staple in my bathroom since last year.

Miracle Cream, No Sweat, Power Dose, Curl Defining Milk, Super Shine
No Hair Removal Cream, No Hair Wax Kit
I'm pretty excited to try No Sweat since I am a Driclor fan, so hopefully I can write a proper blog review on both.

Have you tried any of these JTomas products?

Be Body Beautiful at Any Age with Wacoal

This is a sponsored post.

I attended the Wacoal talk on body aging and choosing the right undergarments last month.  I’m pretty familiar with how women age (I just look at my Lola and my Mom and I get a good idea of how I’m going to end up looking later in life), but when these facts were discussed from a scientific point of view, it just made me feel, well….very concerned.

Okay, this infograph clearly depicts how our bodies will look like over time. Even with the right diet and exercise, our breasts will sag, our shoulders will droop and we will become 2-3 inches shorter by the time we are 60 years old. Blame it all on hormonal changes, the environment, stress, diet, our skin’s loss of elasticity ad the major culprit – gravity.

The Angry Bird

We all went to Tanay, Rizal this afternoon to get away from the big, bad city. There's nothing like lush greenery and fresh air to get you into vacation mode. I can't wait to fly out to our province next week!

Anyway, while resting from our nature trail, my Mom spotted a hen with her chicks and shouted, "Look at those chicks, Kira!" Of course, I turned around and true enough, saw a mother hen with about 10 chicks.
