Rave: Jane Iredale Dream Tint in Light

I love receiving pint sizes of high end brands because it gives me a chance to roadtest it before committing to an expensive full-sized product. One of the products that I can't seem to stop using nowadays is the Jane Iredale Dream Tint. I initially got a teeny tube from the Jane Iredale blogger event last year and haven't really thought of using it until about 2 months later. Around Christmas time, I decided it was time to finally get a full-sized tube despite its relatively high price. Yes, I love it that much.

This super-absorbent product not only hydrates, but prevents water loss, calms inflammation and improves the skin's elasticity. Plus, Dream Tint creates a soft-focus effect that minimizes the look of large pores and fine lines. Unique algae extracts moisturize and soothe, while titanium dioxide provides SPF 15 with UVA protection.
Active Ingredient: Titanium Dioxide 4.5%.
Ingredients: Water/Eau/Aqua, Algae Extract, Elder Flower Extract, Dimethicone, Jojoba Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetyl Stearate, Sunflower Seed Oil, Glycerin, Radish Root Extract, Boron Nitride, Shea Butter, Jojoba Seed Oil, Cetearyl Candelillate, White Tea Leaf Extract, Grapefruit Seed Extract, Lavender Oil, Pomegranate Extract, Glyceryl Polymethacrylate. May Contain: Iron Oxides, Mica, Manganese Violet, Chromium Oxide Greens.
Price: Php 1,890

First of all, let me reiterate that I have combination skin which feels like oily skin most of the time. My fave Skin Hour Mattifying Day Cream can't seem to keep with my overactive oil glands anymore, or maybe it doesn't mesh well with my liquid foundation? Whatever the case, I was in dire need of a product that can keep my face matte longer, sop up excess oil and won't leave me blotting every 3 hours.

Thank God for Jane Iredale's Dream Moisture Tint.

What I like:

  • it is non-greasy and feels very lightweight, easy to apply
  • dries matte with a velvety feel
  • can blur pores, giving a smoother canvas for liquid makeup
  • has SPF 15, offers UVA/UVB medium protection
  • "Light" shade blends well with my skin tone
  • labels says it is water and sweat resistant, and it does nix sweat to a certain degree
  • made up of mostly natural ingredients
  • great primer, works well with my liquid foundation as it prolongs the coverage and color
  • did not give me any pimples
  • keeps my face matte longer
  • comes in 5 shades

What I don't like:

  • not for people who are allergic or sensitive to dimethicone (it's 4th on the ingredients list)
  • it's great as a primer, but not for those who need coverage as it only gives a sheer finish
  • it's a "dry" type of lotion, drier complexions may need to apply a moisturizer underneath
  • has a herbal, sunscreen scent

Pour conclure, I recommend the Jane Iredale Dream Tint for those who have combination-oily complexions and want a sunscreen and makeup base in one. I really like this product because it gives me a smooth canvas for liquid foundation and keeps my face matte for hours. Since it is also sweat and water-resistant, make sure to use a makeup remover (I use Cetaphil or Pure Beauty Cleansing Oil) before washing with your favorite cleanser to make sure you remove all traces of it.

(I love penguins)

  1. Wow you got a full-sized tube na! I love love love this, will get a full-sized tube din once mine runs out :)

  2. @Krissy: So great that you love this, too! My teeny tube has laman pa, haha. But I decided to get a full-sized tube last Christmas using my aguinaldo money :p

  3. last pic so cute! hahaha

where can i get a sample for this? i wanna try this too :D

  4. @Jelly: Hi! The sample size Dream Tint was part of the kit that I got at the previous event. But you can go to Rustan's Beauty Source in Makati and swatch it there, there are several testers available :)

  5. Finally giving Jane Iredale a try. Concealers! XD
I'm getting three of their concealers recommended for dark circles. I'm buying online so I doubt I'll hit the perfect shade the first time. *fingers crossed*

Love the penguin pic! U look like a kid! :D

  6. @Vivi: I have samples of the Jane Iredale concealers here, though I haven't used them. I'd love to read your review!

I really love the Dream Tint, I have oily skin so it's perfect for sopping up oil. Swear!

    1. I'd love to read your reviews, too. Which concealer and shade do you have? I'm assuming I'd have to go at least shade darker than what works for you. But you don't have dark circles, lucky you! I've got dry skin so I think I'll have to give DT a miss. :(

    2. I have Circle/Delete in #2 BUT I haven't tested it yet (it was part of the starter kit from the Jane Iredale event). They have several concealers, I believe, which one/s were you eyeing? :)

  7. I bought the following:
    1. Circle Delete - #1
    2. Active Light - #2
    3. Enlighten Concealer

I have a feeling Circle Delete #1 will be too light for me but it's what the sales rep suggested for those with warmer skin tones. So we'll see... :)
