Beauty Boot Camp @ FAB Salon

There's nothing like a good salon to melt away the stress and help us girls relax. Last week, we were so excited to try out the services at FAB Salon, the new professional full-service salon located at Newport Mall. Owned and managed by Marco M. Pascual who is also the brains behind Bruno’s Barbers, the salon is spacious and its staff very professional and well-trained.

We were given "maps" wherein each seat corresponded to a specific salon service from manicures, massages, foot spas to flash facials. Their prices are affordably mid-ranged, a haircut is Php 300 while coloring is Php 1,300. Such a steal right?

The Complete Obagi 360 System

I apologize for the obvious lack of posts, as I've been busy over the last couple of weeks and just recently got sick So needless to say, I'm not enjoying the long weekend as I have to stay home and rest. Boo.

Anyway, a few weeks ago I was invited to a very nice and intimate Obagi dinner with other beauty bloggers. I wrote about Obagi a couple of weeks back for POC (click, click). Obagi is quite popular for treating acne and photodamage, and basically improving the overall structure of skin.

The Obagi 360 is touted as THE complete Obagi system and consists of Obagi's top performing products: Obagi Nu-Derm Foaming Gel, Toner, Clear, Exfoderm, Blender, Physical Sunscreen SPF 32, Pro-C 10%, Elastiderm Eye Cream and TR Complex. Used together, they all work towards "perfecting" and giving you your best skin ever.

Was out yesterday with fellow beauty bloggers for a serious pampering sesh. All of us hardworking ladies need some R&R once in a while, yes? I will blog about the whole FAB Salon experience in my future post (and in my POC coverage), for now here are some photos of what I wore:

What's new: H Bella Hand Creams

I am such a stickler for moisturizer.

I want a product that moisturizes well, without making me feel like I'm coated; something that leaves my skin feeling silky without being greasy or sticky. And I set the bar pretty high for hand creams -- I prefer something that will moisturize my hands (and cuticles) but be absorbed right away. Since my hands are pretty busy typing or making accessories most of the time, having to wait for the cream to be absorbed just drives me nuts and is such a waste of time. Of course, the cream has to be sweet-smelling, if not, unscented. Yes, I know, I drive a hard bargain.

So it is because of all the reasons above that I am in constant search of the perfect hand cream. It was quite timely that at the recent Watsons Beauty Lab, we were given out H Bella hand creams for us to try. Ooh-la-la, you could tell I was so excited to try these at home:

In addition to Watsons' previous bath and body lines, GrapeBella and SakuraBella, the new H Bella line boasts of being their first "Dermaroma" line which is made of antioxidants and scented with real fruit and herb extracts. The H Bella hand creams aren't 100% natural (it contains dimethicone and parabens), but they do offer nature-identical scents in an exciting array of combinations: Pomegranate & Ginger, Rose & Ripened Berries and Strawberry & Cinnamon.

Scrub-a-dub-dub: my Cherry Blossom scrub

Oh my, how many scrubs does one need in the bathroom? I confess, I have so many! I like varying my choices everyday, however, I do find myself gravitating towards this particular scrub as of late: ONE Naturales Cherry Blossom Trails.

One Naturals body scrub gently stimulates the skin while polishing away dry cells. Moisturizes and cleanses your body with natural essential oils that smell amazing and last all day.

Pure Elegance: Aura by Swarovski

Swarovski Boutique Launch by Tongue in Chic
I was fortunate to have visited the Swarovski boutique in Kuala Lumpur a few years back. I distinctly remember being mesmerized by all the intricate and precision cut crystals on display. The Swarovski creations were luminous and beckoning, twas almost magical.

Aura by Swarovski, the tantalizing new fragrance created by acclaimed perfumers Jean-Pierre Bethouart and Fabrice Pellegrin, is inspired by the same radiance and light evoked by these world famous crystals. It is inspired by the same way the crystals are cut and faceted with Swarovski’s exclusive know-how, capturing the light, diffracting it and then finally releasing it in a thousand brilliant rays. It is this phenomenon that has moved the perfumers to fashion this unique scent.

Aura befittingly embodies the glamour and glitz of the brand. The flacon itself features an asymmetrical jewel set atop the bottle while the long sheath of gleaming metal that envelops the glass inside, features an opening that allows a ray of light to beam through, revealing the subtle rose color of the fragrance.

The fragrance is a fruity floral centered on a fusion of amber and white musk. It possesses top notes of juicy lychee and powdery rose, which add a feminine touch to the fusion. At heart, sensual, deep notes of white jasmine deliver a seductive appeal to the bouquet.

As a self-confessed fruity and floral girl, I usually stay away from musky elements and perfumes. But Aura is quite different -- it is pleasing to senses without being overpowering or cloying. I must admit, I am liking its fruity, floral and musky combination, so much so that is has become a permanent resident of my satchel. A spritz, mind you, is enough to last a full day. Impressive.

Aura by Swarovski EDT is available in 30 ml., 50 ml. and 75 ml. bottles and retails at PHP 2900, PHP 3600, and PHP 4800 respectively. Aura by Swarovski is available at all Premium Department Stores Nationwide and Art of Scent, Luxury Fragrance Boutique Resorts World Manila, and Fresh Fragrance Bar Eastwood Mall and Abreeza

Off the bat, the new logo and packaging is definitely a step up. The prices aren't bad either, and the product selection is pretty awesome -- they even have lip balm with SPF 15, brightening undereye cream (not in photo) and a Back Acne Spray (people with bacne, listen up!).

Am really interested to try out their brightening and anti-aging line. What about you, which line are you interested in? :)

We've witnessed a lot of new and exciting changes with SM and if you've been to their department stores recently, you'll notice a fresher and more enticing beauty section. The SM Beauty Section launched its new concept a few weeks ago: Beauty Within -- a plethora of  supplements, vitamins and pharmaceuticals geared towards women's well-being.

SM’s Beauty Within has brought together the country’s top brands with a singular mission in mind: to help women the country over reveal their beauty from within. Standout beauty solutions include:

With key Ingredients like Placental protein, Asparagus Extract , Vitamin C, Collagen and Glutathione, Mosbeau whitens skin while rejuvenating skin cells and removing harmful toxins from the body.

An interview with the makers of Vitapack 3-in-1

With the green revolution came the Filipinos’ increased interest in a healthier lifestyle and well-being. The 1998-2011 National Nutritional Survey shows that a reported an increased awareness and usage of herbal and food supplements are due to the following top 3 reasons:  A)They make me healthy, B) It was doctor-recommended and C) I am not getting enough vitamins from the diet.

The concept of using herbal remedies as cures to diseases is not entirely new to us. Filipinos have long relied on herbs, teas and other plants for alleviation and cures, especially in rural places where there are few drugstores, let alone hospitals. Sometimes a person would even prefer being brought to an albularyo than go to a doctor for medicine.

With the onset of the millennia, entrepreneurs have somewhat “exploited” this tradition and as such are selling teas and other organic concoctions with fantastic claims of not just curing or alleviating sickness, but also with added whitening, slimming, anti-oxidant and memory-enhancement benefits. A simple trip to your local drugstore and you’re faced with lots of health and food supplements that promise a “better” you.

It is very fortunate that for this article, we were able to sit down with the makers of the newest health supplement, Vitapack, and learn more about this new player in the health, wellness and beauty market. We interviewed the President of Everest Pacific, Mr. Arthur P. Bautista.

The Great 88 sale at HBC

The kind folks over at HBC invited us to experience their ongoing Great 88 promo wherein selected HBC items were currently on sale for Php 88 only -- some were even lower at only Php 44, so keep your eyes peeled for those! I wanted to share the wealth so I brought along my Mom and Dad with me to HBC Trinoma.

Don't be fooled, there are actually lots  of choices here. Some are just placed on the shelves because they couldn't fit in the display. Check out the items that are on sale:

We've been ZAGG-ed!

I love my electronic devices and try to protect them as much as possible. When we got a Galaxy Tab for business purposes (totally worth it, I'd like to add), we decided to just use a regular plastic screen protector which worked fine for a couple of months until it started to peel and get all these irritating minor scratches (we told you, our Tab is decidedly overused). It was fate that led us to a ZAGG booth while strolling in Galleria last week.

ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD is created from an ultra-tough, patented film exclusive to ZAGG. Transparent and amazingly thin, it is designed to precisely match the contours of your device, providing unbeatable scratch protection. ZAGG's invisibleSHIELD is the worlds first and best clear device protection.

Nano-Memory™ Technology The authentic invisibleSHIELD film features Nano-Memory technology, which is visible as a very subtle texture in the surface of the film.

Green with Envy

I am totally in love with this pleated sea green maxi skirt from Zara which is an unbelievable Php 3,000! Why oh why are you so expenseeve, gorgey little green skirt?

Le sigh. I will prolly wait until mainstream brands come out with a much affordable version or until I get my next paycheck, hrhr. But until that day comes, I shall be dreaming of frolics and twirls in floor-length skirts...

Wait a minute...isn't it payday Monday next week? Hurrah!

PS: Where do you guys buy your pleated maxi skirts?

Review: Revlon Colorburst Lipstick in Cherry Ice

While sauntering along the Revlon counter one day, I started swatching some of their lipsticks as I normally do when one shade caught my eye -- the new Colorburst lipstick in Cherry Ice. It reminded me so much of favorite and now defunct Shu Uemura Lolishine and Lancome Juicy Rouge which I've mentioned so many times on my blog. Without batting an eyelash, I decided to purchase one (it was the last one as well, so what the heck) with the hopes of once again reliving my old lipsticks.

Instant burst of rich, true color with a featherlight feel
Elasticolor™ technology provides immediate color release and hugs lips with a burst of weightless color that feels like second skin

The BB Cream Craze hits Watsons

It's no secret that everyone is now starting to see the benefits of BB Creams and is learning to incorporate it in one's skin care regimen. Who wouldn't want a multi-function product -- a moisturizer, foundation, makeup base that delivers anti-aging benefits and offers sun protection as well? I'm sold!

Watsons formally introduced their new BB creams at the recent Beauty Lab with the barganista consumer in mind. These BB creams certainly won't create a dent in your wallet, and yet deliver all the same benefits of the high end versions.

Lather up! New makeup removers to try

One thing that I take to heart is to cleanse my skin every night before I go to bed. No matter how tired, stressed to downright lazy I am, I always make it a point to remove every last bit of makeup before I retire for the night. As you all know I have sensitive and intolerant skin, and to keep irritations at bay, I only use gentle but effective cleansers on my face.

At the recent Beauty Lab, the innovative Watsons team introduced a range of top performing makeup removers that promise to dissolve waterproof and stubborn makeup at only a fraction of the cost of high end brands.

If you loved the Pure Beauty Treatment Hair Care line, then their new makeup removers are worth checking out as well.

Revisiting 50th Avenue

When was the last time you've been to Robinson's Galleria? Honestly, I haven't visited this place in almost a year! This mall has such sentimental value to me and my sister, but then again the construction of Trinoma (which is just conveniently 30 minutes away) made us realize that driving all the way to Ortigas is actually quite taxing. So going further to other malls is more like a treat now.

Good thing that over the weekend the boyfriend decided to visit Saizen (hallelujah!) and I figured it was a good chance for me to check out the newly renovated Galleria, most especially the revamped 50th Avenue.

Comfit on 50% off

OOTD: Ethereal

Knit top: Forever21 |  Jeans: Divisoria | Shoes: Ferretti | Bag: SM Dept. Store
the intricately beaded neckline is just love <3
I really like this knitted top from Forever21 with the billowy chiffon sleeves, it just looks so romantic, doesn't it? This was an impulse buy during that time when I was on a so-called shopping ban. I decided to pair this with slim jeans and cerulean blue Ferretti shoes because I took the train that day and I didn't want to wear something that was too fussy. I don't know exactly why, but my Ferretti shoes feel a tad loose on me now :(

Oh yeah, I was totally laughing from embarrassment in this photo. I have to practice posing, yech. On a side note, I will totally wear this top again in the near future. It's just lovely, lovely! Muchos gracias to Alex for taking these photos.

So how was everyone's weekend? :)

Review: Clinique All About Eyes

Lightweight eye cream diminishes the appearance of eye puffs, darkness and fine lines. Non-creep, cream/gel formula actually helps hold eye makeup in place. For use morning and night, both under eyes and on lids. Ophthalmologist Tested. Click for ingredients list.
The Clinique All About Eyes is my current go-to eye cream. It's a lightweight moisturizing eye cream/gel that leaves the skin around my eyes velvety smooth. The caffeine ingredient helps depuff my eyes, especially since my sleep patterns are as irregular as can be -- I blame it all on my post-BPO lifestyle.

Do you have blemishes on just one side of your face?

Over the last couple of weeks, I noticed an increase in pimples on just the right side of my face near the jawline. I thought that sleeping on that side of the face was the culprit, and as such I "trained" myself to lie on my back (which coincidentally, is a good way to prevent facial wrinkles as well). But then again I thought to myself, I've been sleeping on that side for the longest time, for many years in fact. So why the breakout just now?

I change my sheets and pillowcases often, I have a very strict skin care regimen and I only use mineral makeup whenever possible. What the hell is causing these unsightly blemishes?!

And then it hit me -- I've been using my phone more often since early this year. Couple it with the fact that it's a touchscreen mobile phone with WIFI capabilities and you've got a disaster waiting to happen:

dirty fingers + makeup + sweat =  clogged pores. Eeww...

Dinner date at Shomal Kebabs and Curries by Hossein

Here I go again...craving for certain dishes when I'm PMS-ing. The last time I went crazy, I craved for Panna cotta from Cibo. This time around, it's kebab in all shapes, sizes and price points much to the boyfriend's dismay. So last weekend, I asked (or rather, coerced) him to eat with me at Shomal Kebabs and Curries by Hossein in Trinoma.

I really like this restaurant because it's so quiet, homey and private. For certain tables, there are curtains that separate each group, a very relaxing date place indeed.
