Butter vs Butter: Choose your weapon against dryness

If you use your hands a whole lot, then you're probably as particular as I am with the regards to the type of lotion you apply: thick and emollient or dry and fast-absorbing? Personally, I like having a little tube or container of lotion in my bag because (girl scout alert!) you never know when you might just need it. Plus, I like washing several times a day and I don't like the feeling of dry, newly-washed hands.

Two of the lotions that I am currently alternating in my bag of tricks are Leyende's No Rumple Silk Skin and Mother Butter. What's the diff you may ask? Read on as I compare the two:

Thoughtful holiday gifts from my fave brands

Aww...these gifts made my hectic holidaze extra special! Thank you so much, guys :)

I have been a loyal patron of this indie brand since I've joined the bazaar circuit 3 years ago, and I'm very impressed that its emu oil product line has grown to include anti-aging serums and sunscreen, and now very recently V&M relaunched its reformulated Pureglow mineral makeup line. The owners, Jamie and Justin, are also very friendly and knowledgeable about their products and are always a treat to talk to at bazaars. More power to these lovely ladies!

Hairstyle Peg: Maggie Gyllenhaal

Earlier this week over dinner, I mentioned to Alex (who recently got a rockin' hairdo, check it out!) that I was kinda bored of my hair and I wanted to either go curlier, go shorter or get some fringe bangs. I told her I was interested with having short bouncy hair ala Maggie Gyllenhaal but I wasn't too sure how it would fly with my round cheeks and all. I wanted a classic bob with bouncy curly/wavy ends that looks unkempt and sexy. Am I making sense? Love, love Maggie, she always looks genteel and cute.

Anyway, seeing as it's the holiday season (read: lots of parties and reunions), this was as good a time as any to finally get a haircut

So this was my peg (from StyleHub):

And this is me (oooh, I even have the side partition down pat):

It's not a huge-ass change, but I'm happy that I don't look like the typical digitally-permed Pinay with looong locks that's half-permed and half-straightened. Love how bouncy the curls are and how "light" my head of hair is in general. And how E-A-S-Y it is to style my hair in the morning (I've been tamad to actually maintain my digipermed locks, hence they were looking kinda flat for the past couple of days).

What do you guys think? :)

Benefit Cosmetics opens in Manila!

In case you've been living under a rock, I'd like to share with you some photos from yesterday which was the official launch/opening or Benefit Cosmetics. I went with Liz and Pam and we were giddy with delight -- Benefit has uber cheeky packaging and witty labels, it's pretty hard not to gush over them.

The Philippine Airlines 12 Days of Christmas Promo

My sister has been working with Philippine Airlines for 6 years already (can you believe it?!) I've been riding PAL since birth and am privy to upcoming promos and such, and you know I couldn't I resist a bargain so I was really excited to book some flights when I heard of the PAL 12 Days of Christmas promo.

What's all the hoopla about? Every day from December 14 to December 26, PAL will be releasing 12 exclusive and unforgettable promos on their website. Some of the deals will even rival my industry discount! *gasp*

12 days. 12 deals. I'm hooked! This early I know that 2012 is gonna be another awesome year! :)

PS: My sister and her sales team are doing double duty promoting this to all travel agencies, so here's a shoutout to all hardworking PAL employees out there :)

Make Way for Vestito!

I admit that I can be such a girly girl, I tend to stick to wearing dresses much to the chagrin of my boyfriend. I say, dresses are my default pieces because it's more fun to wear them and it's the easiest, really! A nice dress that fits + accessories and killer (but comfy!) shoes and I'm all set from meetings til dinner.

This was one of the things Vestito owner, Angela Operana-Batoon, and I discussed while getting prettified over at Creations Salon (where else!). She mused about how she started with the brand, wanting to wear versatile clothing that would take her from day to night with minimal effort.

"Vestito" simply means "dress" in Italian and aims to provide metropolitan women a place to find classic, highly feminine day-to-night pieces. The brand focuses on tops and skirts using mostly body-hugging jersey, satin and chiffon.

Review: Monea Curl Defining Milk

Ever since I had my perm last month, I've been so fixated on my hair. I've been experimenting with various styling products that claim to maintain curls and define waves. I saw the Monea Curl Defining Milk one day while gallivanting in SM Makati, and since it was so affordable (read: only Php 99!) I just had to try it out.

Intensify your curls and define your waves! Curl Defining Milk is especially formulated with Polyvinyl Pyrolidine to help form and accentuate curls. It provides natural control with a touchable feel, creating shiny and moisturized curls without stiffness, frizz-free. It gives awesome definition and bounce to curly or wavy hair. With almond milk that leaves hair silky smooth and managable with lanolin oil that prevents hair from environmental or everyday styling damages, without stiffness or stickiness.

Leyende's Real Benefits Campaign

It's amazing how our country has managed to churn out indie companies that offer organic and all-natural alternatives in the last couple of years. I'm pretty stoked that we can now help save our skin and environment at the same time. However, there's simply one brand that's a cut above rest, and that is Leyende.

The name "Leyende" came from the Spanish word "leyenda", which means "legend" or "story". It started 3 years ago from a small kitchen where one woman learned to hand-mix eco-friendly natural and organic body products and has now transformed into a 140sqm workshop. It is in this workshop where founder and President, Neva Kares P. Talladen, trains and employs empowered women in the artisanal process of production, working with respect for the environment and pride in using one’s hands.

So what's so special about Leyende? Well, for one, its products are animal cruelty-free, eco-friendly and contain only ECOCERT-certified ingredients from licensed suppliers. It's simply not enough to churn out organic stuff, the Leyende team makes sure that all its ingredients are certified all natural and safe, grown in sustainable farms. There's no need for scare mongering here.

Fab Salon Valero is now open!

The last time I was in Fab Salon, I had a grand time! I've always wanted to go back, but groaned at the fact that Resorts World is just too darn far from my place! Thank God that Fab Salon opened another, more accessible branch smack in Makati.

The owners, father and daughter tandem Jun and Gaby Manas, invited us over for a well-deserved pampering session (God knows I've been overworked these past few weeks, I use the word "overworked" lightly though). It was great to be able to hang out with the girls again.

Fab Salon's Creative Director is the famed Lourd Ramos, all the staff here were trained extensively by Lourd himself.

Aa usual, we were greeted by a selection of treatments. I was eyeing the foot spa services, but Shen and Alex beat me to it! So I had a hot oil treatment instead.
