No silly costumes or plans of world domination this year. As expected, P-nut got wasted this time (on account of one too many mini San Miguels) while Komiko, intrigued as ever, decided to join in on the fun while sporting her Heineken top.

My little babies are growing up!

Care to share?
Anyway, the dogs are currently resting and enjoying some turkey leftovers. We wish you all a happy Halloweekend! Hope your pets get some well-deserved pampering today :)

My Keratin Treatment by CYNOS

I have relatively straight-slash-wavy hair that I usually just tie up in a ponytail whenever I'm too lazy to blowdry. Any product that promises manageable, healthy and frizz-free hair is tops in my book. Hence I was really excited to try out the Keratin Complex Treatment by CYNOS.

Not to be confused with rebonding or other straightening treatments, the CYNOS Revive Plus Keratin Treatment uses a keratin rich formula that fortifies, revives and restores hair leaving more manageable, tangle-free, silky and soft to the touch. It is coined as a hairtherapy regimen and is said to lessen 95% of the frizz! Sounds great, right?

So off I was to Creations Salon to have my Keratin Treatment done by no other than Lourd Ramos and his trusty creative assistant, Leonard.

Dinner with the girls at Mary Grace

Had an impromptu dinner and movie date with the girls yesterday. Lemme tell ya, I haven't seen Lauren and Mara in months! With Alex, well, it's a different story because I get to hang out and catch up with her at events naman. Alex was in charge of the resto for the night and decided on Mary Grace. Divine Lee is such a fan of this place and I was starting to wonder what the buzz was all about...

Truth is, the Mary Grace Cafe here is so enchanting and pretty! Compared to the Trinoma branch, the Greenbelt branch rocks!

Quote of the week: Worry Not

‎"All is well. You did not come here to fix a broken world. The world is not broken. You came here to live a wonderful life. And if you can learn to relax a little and let it all in, you will begin to see the universe present you with all that you have asked for."

Human Nature "Read the Label" Campaign

Admittedly, I am one of those people who likes reading all sorts of labels -- from gadget manuals to the fine print, I read them all! Which is why growing up without my Dad around, Mom always relied on me to fix the VCR, setup the stereo, router and other things that she just won't and can't do. I rather enjoyed doing all those, actually and it's no wonder that I like reading the labels on bath & beauty products as well. I like to know what's inside all my shampoos and moisturizers, and this is what the recent Human Nature launch was all about.

Human Nature encourages everyone to check the products we all use at home and on ourselves. Our skin in our largest organ and 60% of whatever we apply gets absorbed into our body. Human Nature says:

"Biomonitoring studies conducted by the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in the US, Environmental Working Group (EWG), and various scientists, have found cosmetics ingredients—like phthalate plasticizers, paraben preservatives, the pesticide triclosan, synthetic musks, and sunscreens—inside the bodily fluids of men, women and children and even the cord blood of newborn babies. Many of these chemicals are potential hormone disruptors that may increase cancer risk."

Human Nature's campaign is to  increase awareness so that we may all be able to make informed choices, so that we won't have to suffer the consequences of all the chemical ingredients and additives that we so readily use everyday. Knowledge is indeed power.

FOTD: Sugar & Spice

My Dad was set to fly out on Sunday, so my sister and I decided to to take him to MOA, watch a movie then cap off the day with a happy helping of Swensen's ice cream. The highlight of the day was "Real Steel" which I highly recommend watching. It's about following your passion, no matter what the odds. It's very inspiring, I tell ya and not the typical father and son movie ;)

Jill of Kikay Exchange mentioned that I should post an FOTD, so here it is!

It's interesting how my new hair color (thanks Lourd!) has inspired me to explore the brown side. I am really loving spicy lip colors now. Tools of the trade (this is how simple my supposed makeup routine really is):

Yes, I have fabulous hair!

I paid Lourd Ramos a visit yesterday to interview him for my upcoming POC article. I've chatted with Lourd at several events already, and I've been very vocal about my admiration for him...professionally of course. Lourd always give the best service at his salons, he is very personable and he does the job well. He is the best hairstylist personified.

I was due for a color retouching  as my roots have been showing for months now,  good thing Lourd was there and recommended a different and more natural-looking hair color. I trust his expertise so I believe whatever he says. True story.

Angus Beef Belly Dinner at H Cuisine

I treated my family to a very intimate, carnivorous dinner at H Cuisine located in Tomas Morato. It is a quaint restaurant owned by former classmate Hannah Herrera-Bagatsing, and is quite popular because of their Angus Beef Belly.

I had made reservations via phone (I sent an email mid-week but not one answered, tsk tsk) for dinner on Saturday and was really excited to try the Angus Beef that Anton recommended.

New purchases: Plantex Green Liquid Soap & Leyende No Rumple Silk Skin

I always stop by the Sesou kiosk whenever I find myself in Trinoma. I spotted these yesterday and are a welcome addition to my natural loot at home:

Plantex Green Liquid Hand Soap - Php 180/500ml
A natural floral-scented liquid hand soap that cleans effectively with its antibacterial properties while keeping your hands moisturized. This can also double duty as a cleanser for my tank and Crabopolis.

Leyende No Rumple Silk Skin - Php 380/100ml
I am anal about my hands, I'm one of those people who constantly wash and apply lotion incessantly. My requirements for an effective hand lotion -- moisturizes well, is non-greasy and comes in a hygienic packaging. This Leyende product fits the bill perfectly. It's a non-greasy hand and body moisturizer made of 40% fair trade shea butter, sweet almond oil, bearberry extract and natural scent extracts. Comes in a pump container, "Four Seasons" variant smells like yummy mandarin orange (my fave!). Plus, it's small enough to fit in my bag!

Any organic/natural purchases lately? Share! :)

Cover Girl NatureLuxe is here!

Saw these in Trinoma today -- the new Cover Girl NatureLuxe collection. Don't be fooled, it doesn't claim to be all-natural or organic, but their formulations do contain added cucumber, jojoba oil and other natural ingredients. Their collection includes foundation (Php 795~), gloss balms (Php 345) and mousse mascaras (Php 595).

Mousse mascara - brown black & black
Silk foundations
Being a CG mascara fan, I couldn't resist grabbing the new CG NatureLuxe mascara coupled with their new gloss balm :)

Hopefully I can post a review soon! I have too many mascaras at the moment, but I always make room for Cover Girl. Sorry for all the delayed reviews and posts, the -ber months are super busy for me :)

Saizen opens in Robinsons Midtown

Get your Christmas list done in no time at Saizen's newest store in Robinson's Midtown Ermita. Everything is, of course, only Php 85 each! The store is smaller than the ones in Galleria and Trinoma, but it is well-stocked with makeup, nail polishes and bath & body products.

When Alex and I were invited to the opening, we were giddy with excitement -- who doesn't love a bargain? A game dubbed "The Amazing Race" kicked off the event, wherein we were tasked to look for specific items described on the list. Sadly I lost, hence the photo below.
