VMV Hypoallergenics: a haven for sensitive skin

I am proud to say that I grew up surrounded by VMV Hypoallergenics products. My Mom was a staunch user of their moisturizers and loose powders back in the day, and I readily gobbled up whatever skin care pointers she gave me.

When I was in high school, my first ever mattifying pressed powder was from VMV. In college I got hooked with their Armada sunblock line (I used SPF 45 and 60!). When I started working I started using the Id line, tea tree oil spot treatment and their lip balm. Yes, a lot of their products have been reformulated and most have been discontinued, but my fascination with this brand never faded.

Two weeks ago, our VMV ladies texted us advising us of an upcoming sale. Being VMV lovers since birth, my sister and I trooped to Trinoma to check out the stuff that was on sale for 25%. As I am most focused on skin care, we stocked on lots of products like mad.

I've been shunning their makeup line for years thinking that they were a little bit old-fashioned, but I heard they released new lipstick variants so I just had to check them out.

Their new lip glosses are so pigmented! A 6g lip gloss is only Php 1,200, not bad since all VMV products are 100% hypoallergenic AND non-comedogenic. Hefty promises, I know, but these are all backed up by clinical studies. For someone who suffers from contact dermatitis even from organic/natural products, these are the factors I greatly consider.

And these are the lipsticks! They are all 100% free of irritating waxes, 100% free of phthalates, 100% free of parabens + other preservatives and 100% free of fragrances. They also contain Titanium Dioxide + Iron Oxide Pigments for sun protection, plus green tea for antioxidant benefits plus virgin coconut oil for intensive moisturization.

What's more, according to the website the lipsticks also "prevents chapping + other irritations, all this safety prevents darkening of the lips and acne/rashes around the mouth and chin."

Okay, I am officially sold.

The lipsticks conveniently come in four variants: GLITZ LIPSTICK, SHEER LIP TINT, SUBTLE SHINE and VELVET MATTE. They are priced at Php 1,000 each. I got two gorgeous red lipsticks from them which I've been wearing nonstop since -- review to follow :)

Overall, I've been very happy with my relationship with VMV Hypoallergenics for the past...oh, 15 years? I really love their products! Well, except for their toners because apparently my skin is so sensitive that I need to have mine custom-made.

Have you tried anything from VMV Hypoallergenics? Any favorites? :)

  1. I used to use VMV Hypoallergenics when I was in high school and they had this awesome lip tint that I really loved. I moved on to Clinique for a while then when I checked VMV out again, I noticed that they got rather expensive. I'm very intrigued about the lipstick though, especially now that I've seen how good it looks on you! :)

  2. I think we all have some sort of "history" with VMV. I remember them waay back when I was in high school, too, and their lipsticks cost like P300 :) There has been a huge price increment then, but we still invest in some VMV products like Armada and the Id line :)

  3. I am also using VMV products for more than 7 years now and I don't experience any adverse event, this product is really good.
