Happy Birthday Tish!

Who remembers being 25? I do, and boy do I miss it. I miss having to eat whatever I wanted and not worry about it going to my thighs, LOL.

My younger sister turned 25 this week. It was so appropo since there is no better time to have parties, reunions and pig outs than December. Any sort of fat accumulation during the holiday season is deemed forgivable what with all the reunions and parties and the unexplainable high we experience during this special month.

For her birthday, my sister and I only invited close friends and our significant others for a special dinner at Mile Hi located in Burgos Circle.

Rich, Jessie, Mark, Cheq, Tish, Steve, Ice
my very own personal PSG holding our Bare It All Cream :P
I gifted my sister with two tubs of the famous Bare It All Cream which has been her current favorite since early this month. We wanted to hoard more from the last Noel bazaar but this cream has been so elusive and sold out since. I was lucky to have found a few from their resellers.

What I like about Mile Hi is they serve good, affordable food. Mile Hi may be a diner like Johnny Rockets, but they sure have a better selection of dishes.

Chicken Cordon Bleu
Mozzarella-stuffed Burger (the ranch dressing is so delish!)
Baby Back Ribs

My fascination with all things tiny

I've always found smaller versions of ordinary, run-of-the-mill things cute. Which explains why I have a Chihuahua, hermit crabs and several cactus plants. I have small versions of everything in my bag -- a small potty spray, a small tube of lotion, small toothbrush, a small bottle of perfume, the works! Although it may go against my "save the environment" mantra since smaller containers equals more waste in the long run, I will be honest and say that for me, smallness is cuteness.

Spread love, not germs <3
This year, I was so smitten with my collection of the Holiday versions of the Bath & Body Works Pocketbac hand gels, especially the Reindeer series! These babies come in several mint scents mixed with Tahitian Palm Milk for extra moisturization.

Now since I missed the POC Christmas Dinner because of my busy bazaar sked, I'm sharing some of these cutesy hand gels as gifts to my fellow writers who are equally as cute :)

How about you, do you like/collect small things? :)

P-nut's Christmas-y outfit

P-nut loves dressing up for the holidays!

And this year, his outfit is sponsored by his human's good friend, Jiddu. He's been loving this outfit so far, with the teeny bowtie and the rustic gold buttons. Why even Micki, our resident Shih Tzu, decided to try it on for size.

Happy Holidays from P-nut and the gang! :)

Check out P-nut's Halloween costumes here and here.

Merry Christmas!

Our Christmas this year was one of the busiest and most memorable. We did everything ourselves -- cooking, cleaning, gift-wrapping etc. Our mayordoma (ate Jenelyn) was off on a major vacation, her first in 4 years. You could just imagine how we were running like headless chickens at home tending to every guest and every minor concern.

This year was also the first time that we got Mark and Steve (each of our significant others) to join us for Noche Buena on Christmas Eve, along with the usual family friends and close relatives. Imagine putting a bunch of silly people together -- it was so much fun! I was particularly excited about the gifts that I got everyone -- in my honest opinion, I chose the most significant (and amusing) gifts that money could buy! Har har.

Bare Naturals at the Noel Bazaar

Was hoping we could score a huge tub of V&M's Bare it All Cream at the last day of the Noel Bazaar, since ours is almost used up. But unfortunately all stocks were sold out just this afternoon! *weep* We'll just have have to wait for production next year...

Anyway, we also passed by the Bare Naturals booth so we can check out their new products. A while back I reviewed their Eye Salve and just to update you all, their new eye salve now comes in an easy to use stick form. Here are some photos of the Bare Naturals booth:

I got to meet Ms. Lami, the owner of the brand. It was nice to finally meet her since we've been texting for quite some time since I'm the kind of customer who asks a LOT of questions. Haha.

Bare Naturals just released a lot of tempting stuff like BB Creams, sugar body scrubs, toners, peeling lotions etc. They also recently launched their new sunblocks with protection ranging from SPF 15, 30, 45 and 80 (whoah!). These sunblocks come in tinted, clear and the usual white color.

Although I was very curious about their sunblocks, I realized that I have too many as it is so I settled for their Skin Perfecting / Mattifying Primer Php 380/30ml and their new The Nutritious Tint (TNT) Tinted Lip & Cheek Tint in POUT which was about Php 150.

Have you tried anything from Bare Naturals? What are your favorites?

I shall be using the primer and the TNT during the busy holiday season and hopefully they work well for me. Ta-ta for now :)

Why bazaars are L-O-V-E

Sometimes when I've been doing something for so long, I tend to get bored or just lose direction. Participating in bazaars is no exception. Before my string of holiday bazaars this year, my last was at Rockwell last February. Sales were good as usual, but it seemed like I was getting bored of my humdrum bazaar life.

Seeing as the Greenmeadows bazaar was my last this year, I will admit that I was quite half-hearted about pushing through with it. I wanted to take a vacation early and spend my hard-earned money on things that I know I deserved. But of course, my bazaars have been paid for way back in September so it seems like there is no turning back now.

But God had other plans for the cynical and lazy me. Greenmeadows turned out to be our best bazaar to date. I got to meet a lot of people who appreciated handmade items and also bumped into dear friends whom I haven't seen in ages.

Cat of Bedazzle
By the first day the desktop planners I brought were almost sold out, the notebooks were whittled down to only 25 pieces while our mesh bags were down to 4. My handpainted necklaces were also dwindling in number, good thing the new pendants were dry the moment I got home. Cat, my partner in crime who is a very skilled crafter, seriously needed to replenish her stocks as well. You could say that we were stressed in a good way on day 1.

For day 2, even the bout of rain didn't stop the customers from purchasing giftable items from our booth. I conveniently wore my nautical-inspired dress that I got from Robinsons Dept. Store and paired it with my new hand painted teddy bear necklace.

MAC now open in Trinoma!

Finally, MAC invades North Quezon City! They've got a temporary space on the ground floor of Trinoma near VNC. Their temp space lasts for a year, after which they'll be transferring to their own boutique in the same mall.

My Mom and I wanted to stock up on our fave blushes but since they've been open for only 3 days (and loads of people have been flocking as we speak), some products are still scheduled to follow in the next couple of weeks.

Well I guess my Pink Swoon blush will have to wait, good thing MUA Ish got my number so she can text me ASAP when stocks arrive. Having MAC so accessible to us now is just LOVE. Now if only a Rustan's would set up shop here too....

Thursday, December 16, 2010 stores at Robinsons Midtown

Went to visit Rob Midtown today to hopefully use up my remaining GCs. I discovered (rather late) that there are new stores at the Midtown Wing (near PCX) and on the 2nd floor of the Faura Wing. And just in time for Christmas. I don't know why my sister always "forgets" to tell me these things when she works so near (hint: at an airline company :P)...I could've gone shopping last week when I had more moolah.

Here are modest photos of the new stores that just opened 2 weeks ago. I wasn't on blog duty hence the mobile camera photos again. Plus some stores (like Promod) shooed me away when they discovered I was taking photos. Haha.

Divi Monday (also entitled "The reason why I am so tired today")

You'd be crazy to try to go to shop at Divisoria a few weeks before Christmas. But for us, it's sort of like tradition. Our Christmas won't be complete without a trip to Divi (today was our second one this week). It's great that I have a Mom who likes bargains and a boyfriend who is really patient. I remember in the 80s when we'd go to Sta. Elena and buy boxes of toys for all our cousins in the province.

When going to dodgy places like Divisoria, it pays to arrive early. Some malls open at 7 AM and close by 5 PM, therefore it is recommended to come early so you get first dibs and avoid huge crowds and tight spots. We usually arrive at around 7:30 AM because we are only 30 minutes away from Divi, lucky us!

Also, as with ukay ukay shopping, always dress down. Look poor if you must, and please do not speak in English or with a twang so that you can tawad all you want. Haha.

Anyway, I would like to share *some* of the photos I took today. I purposely left my camera at home because I didn't want to get mugged, so am using my trusty Greenheart camera phone.

This is the new wing people yet! We're early!

New discovery: Pür Minerals

I'll let you in on a little secret --- I purchased the Pür Minerals 4-in-1 Pressed Powder Foundation with the intention of giving it as a gift. But when I swatched the product on my jawline at Rustan's and realized that the shade blended so well into my skin, well, I got curious! And this was just in time since I was in dire search of a good mineral foundation in compact form. So now, I'm back to square one with NO gift for that special someone since I'm keeping it for myself. Heh.

Anyway, on to the review:

This Pür Minerals Pressed Powder Foundation is touted as a "one minute makeup miracle" and was designed to be a foundation, concealer, [finishing] powder and SPF all in one. It is the cornerstone of the Pür Minerals line and is made from "pure mineral pigment ground to the smoothest texture and bound with organic shea butter and vitamin E. This full-coverage mineral foundation is good for your skin."

It is 100% mineral thus it does not contain harsh chemical dyes, alcohol, fragrance or preservatives. This foundation includes titanium and zinc, which provide an all-natural barrier from the elements, and is good with all skin types and conditions.

Venus & Mars Bare It All Emu Cream

Bare It All Emu Body Cream is specially formulated to smoothen and whiten the roughest and darkest skin areas. Shea butter, jojoba oil and mango butter are known to be the best moisturizing elements from nature. Just imagine how good these can be when mixed with EMU OIL, the ONLY natural oil that is closest to the human oil components. It also penetrates 5x faster than any other natural oil! This could be the holy grail of body creams! This product also has papain, a powerful whitening extract. The peppermint content is sure to give you a relaxed mood that’s enough to ditch all day’s (or even the brewing!) stress.

Ingredients: Emu Oil, Shea Butter, Jojoba Oil, Mango, Papain, Peppermint
The V&M Bare It All Emu Cream was one of those impulse buys that my sister decided to sneak into our orders at the WTC bazaar while I was in line at the ATM machine. But surprisingly, we enjoyed using it more than the other products we purchased.

We particularly chose the Lavender Dash Mentholated variant. Please take note that lavender isn't really one of my favorite scents, but this concoction smelled really good and yummy. Do you apply lotion/cream to every inch of your body? I do! And I think I was a little bit surprised when I was starting to "heat up" and feel minty a minute after application. Moreso if you are in front of the electric fan or your air conditioner is turned on. I swear, I felt minty cool for a good 15 minutes. Some customers even said they used this product as an alternative to efficascent oil (really?).

Be warned: the menthol component in it is a bit strong so please do not use this on sensitive parts of your body (you know what I mean), or even touch your eyes with your hands.

How does it fare as a moisturizer? Well, it's good enough to moisturize my body without feeling coated and sticky, but it's not quite moisturizing enough for my feet, heels and hands so I use a separate and more emollient moisturizer for those parts prone to dryness.

Will I purchase again? Yes definitely. I am enjoying the lingering scent and the minty feel, it helps me fall asleep faster especially in our relatively cooler weather. Also, it is an all natural product -- no bad chemicals, unnecessary fillers or any synthetic ingredients :)

Price: Php 225/100g tub and Php 580/300g tub

The Ukay Manila Gift Cards

I am always on the lookout for nice and affordable clothes and sometimes if time permits, I personally go on ukay ukay haunts. But really, I am an online shopper at heart as most of my waking hours are spent in front of my laptop. It's really no secret -- 90% of my online shopping is done at Ukay Manila. Most, if not all, of the dresses I own are purchased online via their super reliable and user-friendly website.

I mostly like their girly dresses with ruffles, tiered skirts and lace and I've showcased a few OOTD on this blog. It was Lauren who first got me interested in ukay ukay and I've been hooked ever since. Well to be honest, Ukay Manila has turned ukay shopping so much easier....and addicting. Here are some of my favorite pieces:

So pretty and adorable right? If you love dresses as much as I do and would like to give a gift that your loved one will truly appreciate, or if you're a well-meaning boyfriend stumped for the perfect gift, then check out Ukay Manila's new Gift Cards. They come in Php 500 denominations and are valid for a year from date of purchase. Now isn't that grand? This will definitely take out the guesswork when choosing the most appropo gifts for your fickle girlfriends. I know I would love some GC's from my boyfriend right now, moreso if they're GC's from Ukay Manila.

To promote this new offer, Ukay Manila is giving out 10 Php 100 gift cards to the first 10 girls (or guys) who'll help us spread the word. The gift cards will be valid for a year from date of purchase and can be used on any item at Ukay Manila, the Trinket Box, or Love Walks In.

Here's how to join:

1) Blog about Ukay Manila’s new gift cards with a link to and the Gift Card category.

Wedding at The Glass Garden

We attended a good friend’s wedding yesterday which was celebrated at The Glass Garden. It was my first time to visit the venue and I was really amazed at how nice the place is. Growing up I’ve always wanted a garden wedding as opposed to a church wedding, with a little white arch or gazebo adorned with flowers. Back then I was such a romantic, haha.
