Etude House Dr. Oil Solution

Etude House has a relatively new line specifically designed to combat oil. Their Dr. Oil Solution line is made up of the following:

Dr. Oil Solution Anti-Shine Dual Primer (Php 498) - 2-step pore and moisture coverage primer that promotes makeup ready complexion and eliminates oily shine.

Dr. Oil Solution Anti-Shine BB Lotion (Php 498) - this BB lotion moisturizing coverage absorbs sebum to eliminate oily shine; gives a sheer expression powder for a natural look.

Dr. Oil Solution Anti-Shine Mist (Php 298) - a portable oil-control facial mist that supplies moisture and powder to subdue oily shine and preserve makeup integrity

I wanted to purchase all three items but settled for the BB lotion for its SPF 20 component and the fact that it was [slightly] tinted. After swatching it several times, I thought it would be good alternative to my HG Nu Skin tinted moisturizer.

Favorite phone apps: Twitter, Facebook & Angry Birds

So how did I survive the 4-day roadtrip with the family? Well I was online almost every nanosecond updating my status on Facebook and Twitter and obssessively checking my mail. I love using my phone apps, the interface and the animations are just darn cute:

my Facebook wall

my Twitter page
Of course it was fun reading replies from my friends as well....that is until the phone bill came last Sunday. LOL. I promise not to go online as much anymore as my bill was almost astronomical, haha. Globe charges Php 5/15minutes of surfing. Dear bank account, I promise to use the laptop or the iTouch when WIFI is available :p

And oh, our new favorite app after Plants vs Zombies:

The survival of the Angry Birds is at stake. Dish out revenge on the green pigs who stole the Birds’ eggs. Use the unique destructive powers of the Angry Birds to lay waste to the pigs’ fortified castles.

Protect wildlife or play Angry Birds!

What about you, what are you favorite phone apps?
Have you gone gaga over Angry Birds on your iTouch yet?

Hello from sunny Mindanao!

Hello, hello!

This would be my first trip to Butuan City, Agusan del Norte in 5 years. Nothing much has changed. The air is still fresher and the grass is still greener...

I'm still with my silly sister and the parentals...

And our precious little Komiko (among others).

Today we're getting ready to take the 4-hour long drive to Cagayan de Oro City in Misamis Oriental. I love roadtrips and I am so looking forward to this one.

Have a great week everyone! :)

Forever 21 in Manila

Warning: very picture heavy

My sister and I decided to once and for all visit Forever 21 before we leave the big bad city on Monday for a more relaxing vacation in the province. We both had some money to burn before our trip and so we trooped to Megamall one fine Saturday afternoon to see for ourselves what the hype was all about.

We arrived at 1:00 PM which was perfect because the store wasn't packed yet. Well for one thing, the other bloggers were correct, F21 was indeed HUGE! You'd prolly get lost in all this craziness. Check out the photos below (warning: silly people ahead!):

care for some shoes?

A visit to the lovely Paterno home

Remember Pansy from the first Gibo event I attended? Well we've become very close friends with her and when the campaign period was nearing its end, I felt very nostalgic and started to worry about her. I have a soft spot for Grandmas, especially those who have some sort of history to them (pardon the pun).

Pansy has been active in the campaign trail since forever, she's also a member of CWP (Concerned Women of the Philippines) and MKBK (Mahal Ko Bayan Ko). Man, you gotta admire the strength and stamina of old people, Pansy can walk fast and chant as loud as an 18-year-old, and she is already turning 80 this year!

So anyway,we decided to visit her a few weeks ago at her lovely home in San Juan. I love, love old houses (I currently live in one). Pansy was just delighted that we came over for a visit. Here are some pics for you guys:

What a true hostess! Pansy was more than happy to tell us about the history of the house pre and post-war.

The first thing we said when we saw the lily pads?! Plants vs Zombies!

How to Break Up (in 64 easy steps)

This is just really awesome and hilarious! Coincidentally, that part on having an argument about the importance of going to an environmentally-responsible gas station is just spot on...I feel guilty.

Don't forget to snicker. Then press repeat :D

Spotted: Little Christian w/ his big crab

Little Christian from next door showed me his newly purchased [native] hermies this afternoon. I reckon he got these from the nearby wet market where hermies go for a measly Php 5 to Php 150 depending on the size. They are literally picked off the beach (sad I know) somewhere up North, and then shipped over for selling.

I'm going out on a limb here by saying that keeping small to medium-sized hermies are acceptable (for me anyway), but keeping humongous ones are just insane. I pity the big ones because these guys should be out procreating and making more crabs, but instead they are sold as pets...and unfortunately die soon after due to improper care or mishandling.

This guy was just really big and heavy, and may be experiencing PPS (post-purchase stress) because it didn't want to come out of its shell not until it felt some warmth from the afternoon sun:

that's my hand right there!

P-nut is checking the crab out...

...and got curious about the camera

I gave Christian some sand and pointers on how to take care of his crabs properly (I hope the little runt listened, his eyes were glazing over halfway through my explanations). I also told Christian to name his crab, so he'd feel some sort of attachment and affinity towards it, and feel responsible for his own pet.

If I were him I'd name it Appolonius (if it were male) or Appolonia (if it were female). Yes, I'm still hung up on "The Godfather".

Dinner with the girls of POC

The quaint vintage feel of Mile-Hi Diner was the perfect setting for a quiet [long overdue] dinner with the wonderful girls behind thePOC's Fashion & Beauty channel. I have been writing for several months already and have only met Liz and Lauren so far.

Mile-Hi sort of reminds me of DC Diner in Streetlife way back in the day, and I'm sure the boyfriend would agree. Yes, us twenty-somethings miss the 90s. The boyfriend is more of a burger and fries kind of guy, while I prefer red meat, potatoes and rice and so I think the extensive selection in this joint will make us very happy. Currently making mental note to bring Mark here on his birthday :D

Anyway, I digress. So by virtue of our editor Liz on one particularly cool Saturday night, Lauren, Mara, Alex, Gem, Lyn, Tanya, Tita Noemi and I decided to meet up, throw all our diets out the window and just chomp on high calorie, sodium-filled food. And yes, it made us very happy.

First up, my sizzling Salpicao bathing in olive oil:

My favorite Salpicao dish (evaaaah!) is from Nina, formerly located at The Podium, and much to
my dismay closed down a few years after. Such sadness.

And here are the much awaited pictures of the pretty POC ladies:

Meet Carmine.

I was grocery shopping today when I spotted the new Happy Hermits kiosk that opened on the lower ground level of SM San Lazaro. If you recall, Max came from Happy Hermits while PP came from Lucky Hermits and the others came from the province.

When I peeked into the hermit crab aquarium this afternoon, my heart went out to this medium-sized Strawberry (Perlatus) crab. *sigh* I still had so much love to give and so after much thought, I decided to purchase the last hermit crab on my list. And without batting an eyelash, I named it Carmine.

Coenobita perlatus (the "strawberry hermit crab") is one of the most exotic-looking species of land hermit crab to arrive in the U.S. Identifying them is a breeze, because their entire body is the color of a ripe strawberry and their eyes look like polished hematite beads. The eyes are a dead giveaway so if you think you do own a strawberry crab, check their eyes right away.

The BEST beauty product purchase of 2009

It's a bit late since it's halfway through 2010, but I'd like to share with you the best beauty item I've purchased in 2009. Dun-dun-dun!

It's the Magic Hair Removal Wand that I purchased April of last year. I really didn't think much of it when I first got it, but over time I've seen the convenience and value of having such a nifty tool at home. No more trips to the salon for upper lip threading :)

What is the Magic Hair Removal Wand?

It's a small tool with a tightly coiled spring that you can use to remove unwanted hair on your face (upper lips, chin, cheeks, etc.) anytime, anywhere. It is easy and almost painless, if you're used to threading then you'll certainly enjoy using this.

The MHRW:
  • is environment-friendly and reusable
  • does not require any batteries
  • does not require heating
  • does not require power charging
And the best part is: you can literally use it ANYTIME -- no need to wait for hair to grow a certain length to use it!
